Default What's it? Stuff Kim put on the grip...

I was watching the All England 2002 mixed double final a few days ago, after the first game, I noticed Kim Dong Moon took a bottle out and apparently apply the material in the bottle on his racquet handle, I wonder what it is, was it used for a better grip, is it legal..., I am just very curious...

    See attached picture.

it's been discussed before in; search for it. Basically it's a syruppy liquid that adds grip and texture so the players get a better hold on the racquet handle. Many different brands and the players who used them were discussed in that thread.

I think he uses the powder. It's available from Yonex.

Since it looks like it's only available from Yonex Japan or asia then you have to tell an authorized Yonex dealer to order it from Japan.

I have been searching around, try to find something similar to the Yonex Grip Powder here in US that I can buy, I then found this site:

    http://www.mightygrip.com/

I actually call them up, the guy seems knowlegble in this subject and make a few comments:

    1) with the regular grip powder, you will feel dry right away, but after a few minutes, the sweat on your hand will 'mess' it up quickly and you will have to re-apply the powder again to get the non-sliping effect.

    2) with their product, you put it on your hand instead of the grip, it's a hand powder, it suppose to 'stick' on your hand, even with the sweat, so you don't have to re-apply the powder over and over.

I have no experience with any of the grip powder, so what do you think?

My experience pertains to the dry powder they put in gloves. My hands stay dry in those rubber gloves even though there doesn't appear to be much powder on there at all. If there were no powder, i would have sweat a river or two. BUT that powder made my hands more slippery. ymmv.

Cheung... I have no idea but i'll since you found a nice picture i'll give it to you
