Please help find info about tournament

    Hi!
I'm from Ukraine, i'm fan of our junior sportsments. I know they going to Portugal at 23 of november. So i find tournament at tournamentsoftware.com and it looks like it would be team championship of Europe U17 http://tournamentsoftware.com/sport/tournament.aspx?id=CE818BDF-2F95-49BF-8A6A-15F11EDCF234
I didn't find any other tournament in november in Portugal - but !!!!!
I exactly know that our sportsmans going there at 23 of november - but in link above as you can see the date of beggining tournament is 19 of november. Is that correct date in site tournamentsoftware (may be they will change it soon, but sportsmans already know it)? may be they are attending another event? (i know that they are going in Portugal at 23 of november - and it would be European championships).... Please, if anybody can help me to understand this situation.:(

I assume it will be up in the coming weeks on tournamentsoftware as well. Still more than 3 weeks to go so just wait and see once the team event has started :).

    In the mean while ...

"Denmark secured its fourth title in a row at European U17 Championships by beating England 3-1 in today's final. But it was England who took the 1-0 lead as Alex Lane beat Peter Correll in three games. Then Julie Finne-Ipsen brought back the Danish title hopes by beating her English pendant Natalie Chan-Lam in a close three-game battle. The next two matches showed a dominance by the Scandinavians. The men's doubles Viktor Svendsen and Mads Sørensen beat Alex Lane and Sam Person in two straight games to give Denmark the 2-1 lead. Afterwards - and in the last match of the day - the women's doubles pair of Julie Finne-Ipsen/Isabella Nielsen sealed the overall victory with a 2-0 win over Jennifer Moore/Victoria Williams.

For Denmark it was the fourth title since 2005. The trophy for the best team was handed out by Badminton Europe's Vice-President Alberto Miglietta. Congratulations to gold winner Denmark - and to the finalist England as well es Turkey and Russia for taking bronze medals.

    The final:

    Denmark [#1] - England [#4]

    MS Peter Correll - Alex Lane 21-15, 14-21, 16-21
    WS Julie Finne-Ipsen - Natalie Chan-Lam 15-21, 21-11, 21-18
    MD Svendsen/Sørensen - Lane/Parsons 21-12, 21-12
    WD Finne-Ipsen/Nielsen - Moore/Williams 21-13, 21-15

8 countries share medals in Portugal

"8 of Badminton Europe’s member associations are winning at least one medal at the 2011 European U17 Championships being played currently in Caldas da Rainha, Portugal. The winner of the team event, Denmark, is the most represented in today’s semifinals, as they are represented in 6 of them. Germany is second best – sure of bring home 4 medals. Only one player will win more than one medal – Russia’s Olga Morozova who will bring home medals from both the mixed and the women’s doubles events.

Germany, Finland, Bulgaria, Denmark, England, Russia, Belgium and Sweden – all of them will leave the European U17 Championships in Portugal with medals in their bag. These 8 countries are all represented in Saturday’s semifinals, where they will strive for a place in Sunday’s finals.
Russia’s Olga Morozova is represented in two semifinals as the only player of all – but only after two very close wins in her two quarter finals. Stefani Stoeva from Bulgaria is possibly the biggest favourite of all being going into the last stage of the event, having showed some impressive skills, leaving her opponents with very little chances against her.

Another player to keep an eye on is Denmark’s Rasmus Gemke. Despite still being only 14 years old (U15 player) he has managed to qualify for the semifinals – and he must be seen as favourite to win his semifinal against Germany’s Fabian Roth, despite Roth having had some impressive wins so far in the tournament.

Remember seeing Stoeva play in the team event of the U19 EJC back in 2009. Already looked promising then, think she must've been 14 and her sister 15?
Just reading now she was 16 at the time of the Hungarian International (senior) earlier this month ... and won it!
