Silent Partner had a racquet (tennis) stringing contest and the winner took just over 13 minutes to string the racquet.

    http://www.sptennis.com/videos/SpeedStringing03.html

Of note: for cross string, they use what is known as "one ahead" where they will weave two cross strings before tensioning.

Also, round the world technique of one-piece stringing where you start the cross from the top instead of from the bottom.

Pretty interesting for those interested in stringing.

p.s. looks like this falls under Equipment instead of General. My apologies.

Haha, that's cool. But you must be bored to be watching a racquet get restrung in 22mins! :D

Pretty interesting to see how fast those guys can weave the cross strings and also the various different techniques (one-piece, two-piece, pre-lace, round-the-world, etc.).

    13 min, wow... amazing...

However, tennis racket string bed is not as "complicated" as badminton. If I don't remember wrong, tennis racket has about 16 main and 19 cross. Badminton has 22 main and 23 cross in general.

Therefore, if for badminton racket, I think it will surely take a little bit longer. But still, fast hands...

i rather brag about quality of stringing than speed to complete the job.
i can take lots of shortcut if i want to if someone want it done fast

of course! and also, the thicker strings make it easier to weave and insert through grommets!

Yeah i found that tennis and sqaush raquets don't take very long to string cmpatred to badminton. I did a sqaush raquet for the first time in about 8 years not too liong ago and I was done in under 20 minutes.

Yep, the spacing between the string is larger so you can weave much faster. Same with the share grommets, the string is thicker so it's easier to do knots...etc...

Also, the # of mains and crosses are less than badminton rackets as well. ;)

Since we all agreed that the badminton stringers seem put more effort into the job, should badminton stringer charge more than the tennis stringer regarding to 1 single racket? I understand the market demand might be a factor, though.

You can try and charge more but I doubt it will work. The market dictates the price and in general, badminton lessons, court fees, stringing is significantly less than tennis.

    P.S. Check your e-mail. :p

Badminton stringers should charge a lot more than tennis stringers. It just doesn't make sense that some stringers in Canada would charge $8 just for labour.
