Hi everybody,Is it just me or does anyone else notice a BIG difference when playing a match at a venue that is different from your usual one? When I play at my usual club I feel I can command my shots a lot better than when playing somewhere I am not familiar with. The different markings on the floor, the different colours on the walls, the different lighting. For example when I play at one place to have a match I find it very hard to judge whether a shot has gone long or not. Anyone else find this? For non-native English speakers, venue = court, pitch, place to play badminton
I like to play at different venues for this reason. I do go round to different places as a guest and it really helps adapt to a new match setting where one may not have played before.
That is why they called it home court advantage. Obviously when you play at your regular venue, you are already comfortable with the venue and the various quirks that it might have. That is also one reason why players like to get a few practices in at the venue to acclimatize themselves to the quirks.
