Santa is bringing one of my boys his first full-sized racket: a Black Knight Photon. (Santa loves sales on old-yet-awesome merchandise ;))

130gm badminton racquet. This one has the Kason label. Strung with BG80 at 25 pounds.

I was considering the 150gm version but decided to setup gradually.

I read a little bit about them on this forum, the caveat associated with them was that the extra weight could throw off your timing. Is this not something you're worried about?...this is my last question on the matter as I realise this is kinda wandering off topic :p

Not really. As with any training aid, you have to realise when it is appropriate to use it to help yourself.

In fact, I was advised recently by an ex-international player to get one to improve my strokes. I remember watching some of the HK team train once and sometimes they would use a squash racquet for training. Zhang Jun used to warm up with a tennis racquet and frequently, Candra Wijaya would hold and swing two racquets.

Where I really want it is to train my forearm muscles to increase finger strength for doubles play defence.

Somehow I totally missed you're reply, I even checked multiple times over the last couple of days and still missed it .

I'm really glad you replied because it didn't seem right to me that a weighted racket would be detrimental.

Off court I've recently tried doing pronation exercises with a badminton racket, even with the cover on I found the resistence to be too little. I'd played around with using a Tennis racket and that was a lot better, although now I'll take a second look at training rackets.

In hindsight the 'timing' argument could be leveled at any of the solutions I tried above...

    Thanks again
