I've been wondering if anyone here has used like a double heat shrink sleeve as a replacement for the original grip, and to finish it off with an overgrip on top?

or would the handle feel too hard using this method?

    Hi bro .... :)

I personally use just one heat shrink sleeve on wood, and a RKEP Elite (G09L) wrapped on top of that at 50% overlap.

It's comfortable for me ..... not too hard. :D

your other post on how to enlarge grip size using heat shrink was very informative.

I was thinking of covering just the wooden handle on my first layer. Then the covering the butt cap as well for the second layer. Finally rounding it off with RKEP Elite at 10% overlap. ie creating a small rib pattern to help with gripping.

Thank you for the compliment bro .... glad the info was useful for you. :)

I was actually experimenting with the EXACT same set-up you just mentioned last night, as my Victor G2 grip was still a wee bit too small (after one HSS was applied) as compared to my already 'modified' Yonex G4 grip.

The finished product ended up being a bit too thick though ..... so now it's back to just one heat shrink sleeve. :(

That's the fun of experimenting i guess ..... have fun yeah? :D

well I am going to apply my method to both my sotx woven 8a and my victor sw37.That way both handle will feel smiliar.

Currently the original grip on the sotx feels more spongy than the victor.

I am just worry that it might feel too hard. ESpecially if I only use one heat sleeve + one overgrip. This is the main reason why I am considering using 2 layer of heat shrink.

ok ..... that makes sense. :)

But do watch out for excess weight and thickness ok? .... although the 'weight' part is negligible.

Why don't you just try it with just one heat sleeve + one overgrip first?
Just to get a feel for it ...... you might actually like it. :)

I had the same concerns intially regarding the possible 'hard feel' ..... but after a session on court with my current set-up, it felt great and i haven't looked back since ! :D

try it this afternoon. It just didn't feel right for me.

back to my normal setup of a replacement grip + a purple rkep g09.

the purple g09 is so much more tackier than the black g09

    Awww .... that's too bad. :(

Yeah, the black G09's aren't very tacky.
But you should try their more popular 'tackier' colours.

    1) Yellow
    2) Green
    3) Red
    4) Lavender

These are my personal favourites in that order .... :D
