I play about 80% of the time at the net. My style is drives, intercepts and especially counter attack. Reading all the posts in this thread showed me this racket is brilliant at the front. The only thing that concerns me is whether i will be able to deliver power from the back?
Another thing that i am cautious of is the stiffness. I had saved up for a MX80 and found it waaay too stiff and so i am worried if the LYD will be too stiff for me? I have been fine using the AT900P and am currently using a Nanospeed 800.

BS LYD is similar to BS 9. so MX 80 is more towards like z force stiffness.

And you don't spend 80% of your time at the net. You're dreaming. You'd spend almost half of your time defending for starters, and you don't do that from the front, you do it from the sides. Then maybe somewhere between 40-60% of your time, you're attacking so you're maybe playing front, maybe playing from the back. It just depends on if you're serving or not, or what your opponents are doing. It's IMPOSSIBLE to spend 80% of your court time in one section of the court.

go with a 3U BRS-LYD. The juice you need from the back with the 4U BRS-LYD might be harder for you if you feel fine with the AT900P.
The BRS-LYD's shaft is stiffer than the BRS-09 but not as stiff as the MX-80. Head weight wise I can say is about the MX-80 head weight but because of the sword like aerodynamic qualities of the BRAVESWORD series, it somehow swings faster.

Thanks guys I think the LYD 3U sounds like a good choice, I still have a couple of months till i have to fully decide.
Yeah Maklike i agree thats sounds right, silly me . I'm just biased because I prefer it at the front haha yeah it wouldn't work with 80% at the net, my poor partner would have to run everywhere!

Recently ordered a 3U LYD. Once it arrives, I'll put some time into it and write up a review. Any rackets BCers want me to compare it to?
I have Arc10, VTZF, NS9900, F9, N55, N90 if people are interested for the comparison.

Hi ccilver. Could u compare the stiffness of ur vtzf wif n90?
11-25-2012, 07:02 PM #492
For me, the vtzf is stiffer than the n90 both statically and during play. I personally don't find the n90 very stiff, maybe along the lines of an n55 or slightly stiffer than arc10. Will compare both to lyd when I get it.
