When stringing a badminton racket, is it really recommended that the tension applied in the mains and crosses differ by about 2 lbs.? I read this somewhere but I forgot which of the strings should be higher/lower.I'm about to go to a local sports shop and let them string my new nano speed 300 with zymax 62 at 22 lbs. so I want to confirm about this. Thanks for the help
first of all, that's based upon my stringing experience, and with my stringing machine. if i do 30x30, or even 26x26, most of the rackets will come out fat. of course, at lower tension, the difference doesn't show up that much, and you may not eve notice any difference. Secondly, for me, IF I (stringer) notice that the racket is becoming MUCH "wider" than normal when the mains are done, I whould increase the tension on crosses. Lastly, it is a trial and error thing, but adding ~2lbs has been working well for me for years, and other stringers I know of. I would recommend anyone to add ~2 lbs on crosses to start.
I think it really depends on the machine setup. However, 2lbs (or 10%) extra for cross is true for most of the current machines, I believe. Just make sure get a trust worthy stringer, and trust what s/he suggest.
