Racket is the term for a ruckus or load of noise, but is also a device used in badminton or tennis.
Racquet is part of the name of a sport, racquet ball.

I always thought that it was the former when it comes to talking about rackets itself, look at the spelling of the forum categories... also take KLRC as an example, it stands for Kuala Lumpur Racket Club...
I've definitely seen racquet before but I can't determine when it should be used. Maybe when referring to badminton as a 'racquet' sport?
