I was wondering whether anyone is going to make any badminton-related New Year's resolutions. If so, wouldn't it be cool to write them down and revisit them year later to see whether any of that was actually implemented? :)

I do think that if one is to make such resolutions, they should be as concrete as possible [1]. Ie. not planning to "exercise more" or "practice more", but something in the most concrete terms. Something that's easy for you to verify whether the goal was met. Something like: "for January, I'll do ____ every Monday and Thursday".

For me, I'm planning to start doing those "Chinese Footwork Conditioning" thingies that have been posted on the forum. I've been planning this for few weeks now, but haven't had the chance or enough inspiration to start. My goal is to do 20-30 minutes first once a week and if another one fits with my schedule then twice a week.

    Any takers?

    I'll give it a shot.

    1) Limit of 1 badminton racket purchase per year.
    2) Limit of 1 badminton accessory per year.
    3) Continue badminton lessons at least once per month.
    4) Do footwork drills at least once per week.
    5) Learn the 21 point scoring system.
    6) Limit of 1 badminton clothing per year.
    7) Join a new badminton group.

when you mean accessory does that mean grips and etc ?
because usually grips comes underneath accessories and that will be bad for you

I really wasn't thinking of grips :p. But that's OK...I stocked up on RKEP grips last year. Bought 72 RKEP grips and 30 Yonex Supergraps. I'm good until 2013. :D Was really thinking of badminton bags. :)

Funny guy :p. Which side to serve on even/odd scores. Should be easy enough to figure out. I even downloaded apps to help out :).

I'm thinking my resolutions not lasting as I want to buy more than just 1 racket this year .

Unfortunately I have no Badminton resolution for this year. I will be taking rest and I am going to enjoy this full year with friends, family and game.

Hehe! There couldn't possibly be apps to calculate such a simple thing? Even numbers you serve from the right box to the left box, odd numbers you serve from left to right. :D

Buying rackets is nice. I guess the purpose with new years resolutions is to break them. :)
