    I have been using BG66UM on my rackets for sometime already now, originally starting with 24lbs, and slowly working my way up as time goes by. On Wednesday i decided that it's time to give 30lbs a try and so i went to my usual, Racquet World @ Pertama Complex to get it strung. Then i played for two hours. Went back home, let it rest on my table, and when i woke up in the morning, the string of one of my rackets snapped at the vertical 2 o'clock and noticed the string on my other racket fraying at the horizontal 2 o'clock as well. My question is: Can the BG66UM tolerate 30lbs above, and what other Yonex strings can i use to replace this?

    I have strung a racquet with BG66UM at 32lbs ECP before and played with it frequently for at least 2 months. Even then neither I was never able to break the string nor did I see any fraying on the coating.

    Please post detailed pictures of both racquets. What ever broke your strings was not the tension but something else such as your hitting/slicing technique, your stringer damaging the string during the process etc.

    @blitzzards, Ok, pictures coming soon. I am not able to take pictures of the first racket, as i have taken off the string. On a side note, anyone know any good stringers within KL?

    @awekuda, might not last, but for two hours of play, kinda ridiculous.
    @blitzzards, what is ECP?

    The BG66UM I used is the SP version. I personally have not seen any durability difference between the JP and SP strings.

    ECP means electric constant pull, meaning that the tension is as tight as it can go.

    What I can see from the flaying of the string is that it occurs way too close to the frame for it to be feasible for you to reach the shuttle at (if you actually it there that often enough to flay the string then the frame will have definitely already broken due to such a repetitive mishit).

    My guess is that it is due to your stringer's fault - his clamps damaged the string over there when he was stringing it. You should tell him about it, or sit next to him when he strings to make sure :D

    If they don't sell JP strings then it means that they discourage you to use 30lbs or above, probably due to their discomfort to string that high (due to lack of technique and skill).

    If they do sell JP strings then it could mean that they are encouraging you to buy the more expensive JP strings from them so that you can string at 30lbs or above.

    Such statements always have to do with a lot of marketing purposes :D

    @blitzzards,
    I don't feel like going to them anymore.
    Might just buy a reel or box of Maximas or JP Ultimax and look for some other stringer.
    Have you used both strings before? What are your views?

    Blittzards : SP version.. i thought you using JP version :D...
    Azrin :
    hehe i know.. i experienced it before.. my setup @25 ECP (Electronic Constant Pull-digital stringing machine) its last me for only 6 session (2 weeks) and its broke on the side of the frame not at the center...maybe due to slicing a lot :D..
    the hitting feeling is so lively.. but its durability not suite my style of play :D..

    I've strung 66 ultimax up to 34lbs, it held during stringing just fine

    ...However I got the rackets back within two weeks due to mishits.

    @awekuda, i love the feel of the Ultimax, especially at high tensions.
    Going to be hard for me to change to another string. What is your setup like? Have you experienced Maxima as well before?

    The one on your picture is 90% possibility stringer's fault. There is no string there to rub against the cross to fray like that.
    FYI, BG66UM will take 35lb max (est based on BG65 breaking tension is 42~45 lb).

    +1, and I think it's 100% stringer's fault.

    It seems that i have not found any professional stringer in Kuala Lumpur wanting to do the job.
    I thought the one i sent to was one of the best, clearly was mistaken.
    Calling out to any professional stringers at BC residing in KL?

    i strung bg66um @25lbs ECP..never try maxima also....now i'm using BG85 and happy with it. actually i never broke any string others than vertical line in the middle.. even bg66 but with smaller diameter string such as zymax62 and gosen R4X 100 always broke @ the side of the frame :D.. thinner string not for me i guess :D..

    I think when the fraying starts to worsen you should cut them it might break your racket if the strings break
