supposedly from the 60's.
i guess at that time, they have wooden rackets and they lace the natural sheep gut by hand. at like 10lbs of tension.

It's a training racquet. It teaches you to be precise and strengthens you. The two things sticking out the right side of the picture are to hurt you when you swing wrong and hit yourself so that you remember not to swing that way again.

oh oh, my parent used to string their rackets by hand lol.. (they should be around 20 ish in 60s)
