Hey guys, Saw this interesting Yonex Authenticator in an eBay ad for a racquet. Never knew they existed. Not that I need it, but where can I get one?
i have seen it. but i think they don't sell to consumers. the way it works is that when viewing the hologram sticker, it will appear clear through one window, and black through the other window.
I'd really doubt that the fake rackets manufacturers put enough money in RnD to copy Yonex's stickers...
I'd need a fake racket to test! I'll come back with results when someone brings me one (I get fake rackets to string every couple weeks).
My stringer thought my racket was fake when I brought it from hk. I said it was genuine as I had the serial and cone checked out here and the normal visuals. So he whipped out the fake detector and then said its genuine be-grudgingly. He said the flex on the shaft didn't feel right compared to the same racket he was selling and he get a lot people bringing fakes in. Hopefully the fakers don't fine a way to fool the detector.
I see more fakes than real Yonex when I string for others. The authenticator is an interesting tool for the sticker. It should be easy enough to find a polarizer that does the same, though I must admit, I know nothing about polarizers or photography, etc.
I finally got a fake racket to string a couple weeks ago and can confirm that the authenticator does work. The fake racket did not pass the test. Interesting fact is that it works even with older rackets (tested with MP99), so Yonex has been using this for a long time. It still works with the newest rackets.
