Strings Snapping Regularly - Stringer or Player Fault?

Hi Guys,

I'd like to know if any of you experienced stringers feel this is not normal.

I've been stringing for many years now and haven't had this happen to me before or to anyone else I have strung for. But over the past 12 months I've been stringing BG65Ti at about 26-27lb for one particular player (intermediate level) and the strings have snapped quite frequently. They seem to only last about 2 months - she plays about 2 times a week.

I pre-weave the racquet, 6-point crank machine, alternate tension the mains and where grommets are shared, I make sure the strings are not twisted inside. The strings seem to snap in the same place around grommet A5 main string area.

I don't normally question my stringing technique as I have strung for many years with many happy customers, but because I don't string with BG65Ti very often, I was just wondering whether this is a common occurence at high tension for this string or whether I should really be questioning my stringing technique?

I haven't got the racquet back yet so not 100% sure, all I know is from what she told me in an Email. I'll post a photo up when I get the racquet back this week.

i agree with Alex82. If it is due to a mishit or the break is off center (in the corners, top or bottom of the racket) then that is mostly the players fault.

BG65Ti for me last ages, for me it lasts about a year even between 26-28lbs. To an extent, I've stopped using it due to not liking the feel of it as much as VS850, which lasts the same.

could be the stringer, but like others have said, a picture would be helpful (maybe a broken grommet?)

I assume the lady customer is pretty good (looking) player?
Also, please check the grommets. There might be some damage there and wear out the string too.

I'd say she's an intermediate level player, I've strung two racquets for her, one was the Arc7 and the other was a brand new (unstrung) Arc-9FL - which I strung with her BG65Ti strings. So it's probably not the grommets.

Just remembered that I strung an Arc-9 for her friend who plays quite regularly too with the same strings at the same tension just before Christmas, haven't heard from her yet, so I guess no news is good news.

Do you play often and what sort of level do you play at?

OK, so it is not grommet. It could be just bad luck she had 2 miss hits? Anyway, if we know the location of break, we can prob offer more opinion.

in my opinion all strings from all costumers are getting worse in durability from year to year... or maybe we just string @ more lbs

a data point for you.

another lady customer of mine uses BG65Ti and it lasts her 9 months when she plays around once a week and 4 months when twice a week. i'd say low intermediate player. both times are proper wear. string broke in the middle main and not near the frame.

Ok, she's given me the racquet but she's taken all the strings out except the ones that had snapped. But when I asked which one it was she couldn't remember the exact one.

This is what I'm left with if it's any use to you guys?

How the outside of the frame looks like? Any scratches? May be she just scratches strings against the floor when lifting the shuttle from the floor?
