Hi all, I am a beginner with badminton (switching from playing squash) and i am looking for a coach to have a few lessons to get me going. What should i look for? 1) Qualifications of coach? 2) What should he do on first session? Importance on footwork? 3) What should i ask him to start with? Thanks all
HI, my coach plays or the local uni, she coaches various levels. Look for local clubs see if they have any once who could coach you or look for your area on the badminton england website. One thing to be prepared for is a lot of footwork training, this is arguable the most important aspect of the game. I started will another guy and he just wanted to hit and not do the footwork.... Hi Will, 1)The Coach should be a qualified level 2 ukcc or badminton england coach (with coach's ID) 2) Not all coaches are the same (obviously, get to know how you play and what you want out of the coaching sessions (e.g. technique, footwork and etc) and then write up lesson plans) 3) Refer to question (2) As far as im aware there are development officers for Lancashire and Cheshire. Please also be aware that some level 1 assistant coaches may pose as level 2. (which is wrong but it means that he or she is not insured if anything happens to you and/or the level 1) And info by Rykard can be followed Hope this helps ice
