    Some math here! (Comparing grip size)

    Hello there

    My short story:
    I'm going to get a Victor BS LYD (G2), because there's no G3 available there.
    Here, the measures (by victorsport.com.tw):
    [IMG]

    The question is: What are these 8.1cm? surface cm2? If so and if the grip would be completely round we could calculate the radius:
    G2: 8.1 / π (Pi) -> √ = 1.60571cm
    G3: 8.5 / π (Pi) -> √ = 1.64488cm

    Therefore, the average length is:
    G2: 1.60571cm * 2 = 3.21142cm
    G3: 1.64488cm * 2 = 3.28976cm

    That means the difference (relating to the radius) is around 0,40mm
    Therefore I need a overgrip with 1(!)mm thickness for a Victor G2 if my overgrips with 0,6mm matched well to my rackets with G3 well.

    Well... I really doubt that my calculations are correct. Maybe they are correct calculated but are nonsense, because I'm still not sure what these 8.1 / 8.5cm are:confused:

    Lol. What am I calculating for. There's also an english explanation:
    "G"is the unit of grip diameter. G1 stands for 7.9cm, G2 stands for 8.1cm, and G3 stands for 8.5cm.

    That means: radius (G2) 4.05cm vs (G3) 4.25cm
    That also means 0,2cm or 2mm difference between G2 and G3!

    Conclusion: If I'm used to 0,6mm with a G3 racket (= 4,25 + 0,6 = 4,85cm) I have to get a 0,8mm overgrip if I'm going to get a G2 racket (4,05 + 0,8 = 4,85cm)

    Could someone reply to this and confirm my calculations? :D

    Depends on how you will wrap it ;). With complete overlap (50%) an 0.6 has already become 1.2 (like here http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php/81662-RKEP-Grip?p=1683504#post1683504)

    So 5.45-4.05=1.4 => 0.7mm overgrip (0.75mm at least are available)

    Lol, yes. Simple, but effective! That's a very good idea to overlap! *facepalm about myself* Why didn't this variant cross my mind?! :p

    Usually I overlap the overgrip as less as possible. Surely it's not possible to do an overgrip completely flat due the minimal overlaps I have on the overgrip. But eventhough there are some tiny "hills" I'd say my overgrip makes the grip 0,6mm thicker.

    BUT! Wait, wait, wait...!
    The grip has a radius of 4cm and more? LOL, that's not possible. Look at your yardstick (measuring tool). There's no way that the grip has a radius of ca. 4cm! :eek:

    Damn... I really wanna finish this calculation o_O" Eventhough the 50% overlap is a great idea.

    And: 0,6mm (milimeters!!!) or 0,8 -> there's almost no (visible) difference. Can these declarations be real? I also can't imagine that there's a real feeling difference between 0,6mm and 0,8mm. These milimeters, guys!:confused:
    I'm confused... :S

    wow
    u must be a engineer.... count down even to the micro milimetre
    i seriously just wrap until the feel i like...

    usually i use have G5 racket... but oso there r G4... hence i just wrap the grip abit different to get what i want

    :D G is the circumference ... (so indeed you should re-do the numbers)

    And you will want to overlap like I did without any original grip underneath it ;) (so just wood and some tape)

    I will measure as soon as possible. But it seems to be circumference and NOT diameter as declared from VICTOR.

    Btw: you didn't notice too that the numbers were (totally) wrong :p

    Yes the BC community is so smart I don't expect to see mistakes ;):D. (also often english measurements are used for gripsize around here and for Victor according to the catalogue - G2 = 3 1/4inch, G3 = 3 3/8 and G4 3 1/4inch [=8,26 - 8,57 - 8,9cm] and I assume G1 would be 3 1/8inch)

    G5 for yonex is the smallest.

    dun think there is a G5 for victor

    grip size for victor is quite the reverse for yonex

    Victor G2 is equal to Yonex G5.

    thanks alex!
    one more question, G5 is equal to 8.1cm and the G4 is 8.5cm right?

    MATH makes us confuse. LOL

    grip sizes Victor / Li-Ning -> Yonex

    People, don't give any attention to this maths lol, since alle these math stuff are wrong calclated due wrong used units:rolleyes:

    btw, this may help you:

    Grip sizes - comparison: Victor / Li-Ning -> Yonex
    G2/S2 -> G5 (small grip)
    G3/S3 -> G4 (medium grip size)
    G4/S4 -> G3 (large grip size)

    I've never seen any S4 (LN) grips before.
    There are also some posts about a very small grip G6 (for Japan only):confused:
    Most of you will get used to S2 or S3.
