Hey I am thinking of buying a yonex shoes since it is one of the brand with the most models... but before that wanna know wat is the average span of Yonex's shoes.... =)
Depends on usage frequencies, court-floor..etc. My SHB 98 MX lasted 2 years. The following year (3rd) has caused me a knee injury
my experience is this.. if i only wear the shoes indoor, they can last 2 years.. if i wear it outside, they last about 1 year...
The insole of the shoe goes long before the actual shoe is finished. The insole life span depends on your weight the frequency and style of play though. For me I change/buy new badminton shoes every 9-11 months...
From experience 6 months - 2 years @ 2-3 times per week. Usually the foot inserts wear through, tread pattern on sole starts to dull or bits break off, and once the sole started to separate from the upper body around the edges (bad glue?). Scuffs and small tears on the body don't mind too much. Playing after the soles loose their like-new spring and grip affects play and subsequent adaptation to replacement shoes. I prefer to replace at early signs of wear and use the older shoes for other less physical uses before they look too beat up. Other brands i've tried (mizuno, head, adidas) gave about the same mileage.
My old pair of SHB-85EX broken because the right shoe on the outside ripped (I'm still growing as I am a student so that could be one reason for the shoes breaking). Also on the left shoe of the inside it was breaking because of the way I was lunging and other parts of my footwork.
oic.... so the average span is about a year to two.... worth the money? or pershaps getting some others are better.....
the leading badminton shoes brand are : Yonex, Mizuno, Victor, Asics, babolat, li ning... i have never seen a real person uses Adidas, wilson or head, but i think they do make badminton shoes.. the best among all these is Yonex JP version. They are the most comfortable (ie, light, soft, excellent grip)... Mizuno is the most durable
I only play an average of twice a week, and here's my shoes in chronological order: My super old yonex SHB 98's or something never broke, never wore down, but the sole hardened at around 5 years~ SHB100 LTD's 2.5 years before the sole wore down SHB200 2 months and got them warranty exchanged for... SHB101 MX 2.5 years and the rubber was worn down to the sole SHB102 LTD's 3 months and I'm waiting on a warranty claim Lesson is: Yonex quality seems to be going downhill eversince they introduced synthetic leather into the equation. My latest pair rip was right on the side wall of the shoe and everything else looked mint! Even if they give me a new pair, I don't think they'll last. I'm switching to Li Ning or Victor next, you should too.
Shintaro Ikeda / Reiko Shiota Japan XD pair wore Adidas shoes. have a look at this http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php/93835-Adidas-Adistar-badminton-shoes
Yea, agree. YY's shoes are not durable. They are quite expensive, too. But they are the most comfortable.
I used to see quite a lot of people with Adidas Stabil (but you would never see me caught dead in shoes looking like that )
