Hi Folks, could someone tell me if my brand new Voltric 80 is genuine or not?
The cone code is: 260112UK. Shaft code: 9931664.
Paid £140 for it. By the end of 5 games, the Yonex logo ink had almost completely come off the strings, which made me wonder if it's genuine. Is this normal on a genuine one?
Also wasn't sure if the grommets looked correct?
    Thanks,
    Ian

    where did you buy it?

you choose your own string right? Yonex high end racket does not come with factory string (or maybe your seller pick it up for you)

what I can say is that your racket is strung by the seller. they apply the ink, but the ink has not absorbed to the string yet (or they use cheap ink)
that's why the ink gone after short period of time

I could say positively that string and ink has no connection with the racket being genuine or not

IMO, the shaft serial and cone code looks all right, but I wanted to know who is the seller? (so I can assure you it's a genuine racket)

Hi, thanks for getting back to me so quickly Avenger.

I bought it from eBay at this link. .
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/170770033028?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

I had no choice with the string it came with, but what you say makes sense. If he strung it himself, and used poor quality ink, that would explain it coming off so easily.

Do the grommets look genuine to you? I read somewhere that genuine Yonex grommets are properly shaped, and fake ones use cut off bits of tube (which it looks like in my photo?).

    Thanks,
    Ian

I don't know about the grommets.. looks good for me, but I might be wrong

how about another type of inspection?
can you post the bag, butt cap, and the area around shaft serial and cone code?

this way we can inspect it further

btw, I have class now, so I will reply later (as soon as possible)

    Thanks again. . .
I've attached shots of the bag, end cap, cone and shaft codes. Also attached a screen grab from someone that suggests the grommets can identify a fake. . . Yon bag.jpg Yon end cap1.jpg screen grab.jpg Cone cap.jpg

    well, the bag looks good
    butt cap looks good

the shaft serial and cone code are engraved
    the fonts also correct

IMO, you should not worry about this racket, it is genuine
I am not good at grommets, but my arcsaber racket also have grommets like yours

I was merely asking the question, if that was 'normal' for a genuine Yonex, which led to another question as to whether the grommets looked genuine.
I'm clearly not as knowledgable about these things as you.

The string paint is meant to come off, and the grommets/serial look fine.:)

Hi Jernan, I think it is easier for Avenger if you also provide the vendor (e.g., Sunrise HK) and some visual aids (like photos) to go with it. ;-)
