today my BG-65 strings broke.Last time this happens quite often to me.A friend told me that the Ashaway flex lasts longer than the BG-65 but has got less power. I already played with ashaway flex ,but that's long ago.Do you have experiences with other strings as the BG-65? I want to admit that i often slice. thanks
...doh..:-( Which fits all these things most? OK, if I have to choose i'll say first power than durability or ...no...vice versa...that's why i'm not sure which one i should take.If there is no great difference in power (means only Peter Gade feels the difference, but not the average ), i first want durability! What's your experiences with stringpower?
In the last 6 Weeks it happened 7 times, two of them were very old strings (ashaway), one ashawy, two i don't know what, and two times BG-65, but brand new. No one in my club let me play with his racket anymore (4 times it was not my own).
it might not be the string's fault, if it happened so often, it might be worn out grommets. warn out grommets are sharp and can cut the string
i think u r possessed seriously, i think it related to stringing and not bg65 i have no idea on your old strings other than that they r old and brittle.
To prolong string life... try hitting the bird in the centre of the racquet strings... anywhere close to the edges, and you'll literally cut the strings, and make them break faster. There are other more durable strings... although only the BG70 or 80 would come to mind... you might want to give those a try.
I had the same with the BG 80, they broke like hell!! I broke one after just four times hitting!!! So I switched over to the BG 70 (Pro) and it works out fine for me! I had the Flex 21 but it loses so much its power that I had to cut it out! I also had the Toalson (can't remember witch type) but they broke also very quick! That's all I can get in the Netherlands: Yonex, Toalson and Ashaway strings.
Marcel... Marcel, How did the BG 70 perform? I'm thinking about stringing my new racquet with this type of string, as it's supposed to be one of the most durable strings around... Let me know when you have time, thanks. -Kelvin
Kelvin, I'm at work now and I can get on the internet so.....time enough! I had the BG80 but they just broke to fast! The BG70 is a little bit thicker but the feeling is very nice. Contol shots or power shots? It doesn't matter! I love the string! And yes its very durable! No sign of breaking at all! Give this string a try. Grtz Marcel
Ashaway Flex No way Ashaway flex lasts longer than BG 65. Ashaway Rally 20 is the durability string in Ashaway. Flex is a more performance string, I have it on my Carbonex 8 TI, the micro flex that is. It is a pretty good string, moves around too much though. I prefer strings that cut into each other and don't move around that much like the old Hy Sheep stuff. Those strings seem to hold up longer. olli wrote: > > today my BG-65 strings broke.Last time this happens > quite often to me.A friend told me that the Ashaway flex > lasts longer than the BG-65 but has got less power. > I already played with ashaway flex ,but that's long ago.Do > you have experiences with other strings as the BG-65? > I want to admit that i often slice. > > thanks
i haven't used that many strings. the ones that i used are BG 65/66/80/85, and occasionally BG70. BG 66 is most powerful but extremely fragile. it was designed in the days when people don't string their rackets at 24+ lbs... BG 65 is most durable, decent power, and ok control - that's probably what you want to try. BG 80 has good power, ok durable, but not good control BG 85 has good power, good control, but not durable - this is what i use, forget about durability, life is too short for badminton, i might as well spend more money and have more fun.
Steel wires??? Don't you use the 66's anymore Kwun? I'm thinking about going back to them, because I'm going back to feather shuttle play again... What about the 85's for feathers? How do they perform? I imagine it would be similar to the 66's, because these were supposed to be designed for feather shuttle play, not the plastic shuttles.
Re: Steel wires??? no. i use bg85. bg66 is really too fragile, i have broken it on the second day before. as i said, i doubt it is designed for high tensions. and honestly, i think bg85 is just as powerful and give better control than bg66. bg66 is a bit bouncy and erratic.
Re: Ashaway Strings Ashaway has some newer strings that are supposed to be more durable than the Microlegend - one of them is called the Vantage. Check out their website www.ashawayusa.com I got a free 10m pack of Rally 22Ti string from taking a stringing quiz on Ashaway's website (not too hard - I got a 95% and I've never touched a stringing machine in my life). Has anyone played with this string before? How does it compare to BG-65 or any other Yonex string?
