From this year onwards, the points from these junior tourneys will be considered for seedings for the AJC & WJC. PB Djarum and Jaya Raya are sending players to both tourneys (and the Banuinvest International as well for PB Djarum's players). BS Kho Henrikho Wibowo Reksy Aureza Megananda Thomi Azizan Mahbub GS Leonila Josephine Tri Ria Maya BD Edi Subaktiar/Arya Maulana Aldiartama Felix Kinalsal/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo Hafiz Faisal/Putra Eka Rhoma GD Melati Daeva Oktaviani/Rosyta Eka Putri Sari Malaysia and Hong Kong are also sending a strong team. Hong Kong will be with it's new BD pair of Lee Chun Hei/Tam Chun Hei. Both players have been exposed to GP, GPG, and even SS tourneys. I am not sure why HKG didn't send Angus Ng Ka Long. He's still eligible for the AJC & WJC this year as he was born in 1994.
I hope Kho Hendrikho Wibowo can shine here and challenge Soong Joo Ven, Lim Chi Wing and Tam Chun Hei and also some Indian and europe juniors. He is still quite inconsistent. can not show his true ability and potential. it makes many people underrated him.
I heard Angus Ng Ka Long is skipping the tournaments because he has to study for his school exams. really looking forward to see some great matches again! you can find all the entries and the draw and live score when available at: http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/tournament.aspx?id=B5BB61FB-96F7-4477-94C8-3B9EF8177EF4
Jaya Raya are also sending their players?!? Awesome! Hope both clubs will do well... The companies behind both clubs are the 2 most serious badminton financial supporters in Indonesia...
I thought the Dutch Junior organizers already finished the draw by Feb 22nd (as declared on their official website)... Does anyone have it yet? I just checked the tournamentsoftware site... nothing there...
Draw has been published on tournamentsoftware see : http://tournamentsoftware.com/sport/tournament.aspx?id=B5BB61FB-96F7-4477-94C8-3B9EF8177EF4
Matches involving INA players BS R128 Reksy Aureza Megananda vs Arun George - a first match against an Indian youngster is always tricky and tough. Remember our AJC players lost to Indian players last year? Thomi Azizan Mahbub vs Baptiste Roy - if Thomi can beat his first-round opponent, a match against another Indian player (Aditya Joshi) possibly awaits him in the next round. BS R64 Kalle Koljonen [1] vs Kho Henrikho Wibowo - hmm.....can Kho overcome the top seed in his first match? GS R128 Emily Westwood vs Leonila Josephine - if the Jaya Raya girl wins, she will face Marsha Lursen for a place in the last 32. BD R64 Edi Subaktiar/Arya Maulana Aldiartama vs Calvin Ong Jia Hong/Tan Wee Gieen - bang....first round and already an anticipated match against the Malaysian pair. Soo Teck Zhi/Soong Joo Ven vs Hafiz Faisal/Putra Eka Rhoma - another bang....wow 2 INA pairs vs 2 MAS pairs already in the first round. So, it could be tragedy for either INA or MAS. If Hafiz/Eka can beat the MAS pair, a date with the 3/4th seed Vincent de Vries/Jim Middleburg (Lukhi/Kevin beat them at the WJC last year) awaits them in R32. Felix Kinalsal/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo vs Rodian Kargaev/Sergey Sirant - only Felix/Kevin (out of the 3 BD pairs) are spared a match against the MAS pairs in the early round. I am not really sure what's the quality of the European seeded pairs here. Realistically, I expect them to progress to at least R16 and face the 5/8th seed Matthias Almer/Dominik Stipsits. Another MAS pair Darren Isaac Devadas/Tai An Khang (the winner of the Selangor Open title) could await the INA pair in the QF. GS R64 Tri Ria Maya vs Cheung Ying Mei GD R32 Nadia Fankhauser/Michelle Schar or Lynlette Aung/Natalie Chan-Lam vs Tri Ria Maya/Leonila Josephine.
Oh...forgot about another pair in GD and XD just now. GD R32 Myke Halkema/Gayle Mahulette [3/4] vs Melati Daeva Oktaviani/Rosyta Eka Putri Sari XD R64 Edi Subaktiar/Melati Daeva Oktaviani vs Ryan McCarthy/Sophie Sankey [5/8]
Personally interested to follow Melati/Rosyita, Arya/Edi, Edi/Melati, Felix/Kevin and Hafiz/Putra here. Go Go Go!
with a right partner, good playmaker, i think Rosyita has a chance to get a medal in WJC someday. anyway, she still has 4 WJC opportunities. good luck for her in the future.
I think Henrikho can finish that Finnish 1st seed Kalle Koljonen I hate to over-generalize, but Finland is NOT a country rich with badminton tradition. Henrikho is INA's #8 ranked U-19 BS, not an easy pushover by any means... I say our best chance to get a title is Thomi, INA's #4 ranked U-19 BS... followed by Edi-Arya (INA's #2 ranked U-19 BD) and Edi-Melati (INA's #2 ranked U-19 XD)... The Dutch Junior organizers really know how to knock out Asian competitors quickly eh?
The seeds are a bit off, they use the world junior ranking i think, and some of the Europeans rank highly in that so are seeded.
hmm... i think it will be hard for Thomi to win here since Tam Chun Hei is also competing.... Tam defeated Vito in WJC Team last year. and he has much more experience in international tourneys compare to Thomi... Let see if Thomi can beat him...
As expected, the seedings here are not done according to the strength and quality of the players. Two seeded ENG XD pairs got beaten today by MAS and INA pairs respectively. Edi Subaktiar/Melati Daeva Oktaviani progress to R32 and will face Aleksandr Zinchenko/Olga Morozova. If they do win that one, a MAS pair in Tan Wee Gieen/Yap Cheng Wen is likely to be their obstacle for a place in the QF. Let's see if they can reach QF first. The Djarum boys and girls are likely to play 2 XD matches on Friday and possibly another 1 in their respective BD and GD respectively (if they win their matches), with a maximum of 3 for Edi/Melati. Another 3 matches to be played in the opening day: 2 BS (Reksy Aureza Megananda and Thomi Azizan Mahbub) and 1 GS (Leonila Josephine) match. I expect all 3 to progress to R64, which will be played tomorrow. For tomorrow, the 3 BD pairs will start their campaign. The match of the day will undoubtedly be the 2 matches against MAS pairs! Felix Kinalsal/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo should advance. In addition, Kho Henrikho Wibowo will also start his match against the top seed from Finland and Tri Ria Maya face a tough test against Cheung Ying Mei.
Reksy is leading Arun George 15-21, 21-19, 16-11 in game 3... oooh, 18-12 now in game 3... Lesson to Indonesians: do not watch soccer (where we are trailing Bahrain 0-9)... just watch Badminton where we can beat Bahrain 5-0 in men, women, or mixed teams... Ok, Reksy just won 15-21, 21-19, 21-15 over Arun George.
Hmm....Leonila Josephine, on the other hand, is going to be beaten. Our girls singles are really damn fragile nowadays. U cannot even expect them to beat the juniors from European countries Not to to mention the very top ones from Asia, eg: Thailand, Taipei, Korea, and China.
We need another 5-10 years to see another top 10 world contender, and maybe 15-20 years until we see another phenomenon like Susi Susanti... Remember, we saw first the emergence of Verawaty Fajrin, Ivana Lie, and Elisabeth Latief [who were all top 10 contenders 10 years before Susi Susanti matured]... Then we saw Susi's outstading generation that included Sarwendah, Yuliani Santosa, Yuni Kartika, and Mia Audina... all were great supporting casts for Susi..... That's how we won the 1994 and 1996 Uber Cups and were finalists in 1998 too.... What an outstanding decade for INA women...
Leonila isn't include our elite GS Junior player. She is born 96, last year she played in Sirnas U-17, the best result only R-16 except Bali Sirnas when she got WO because of the earthquake.
