Hi, I have a racquet stringing business (www.stringways.com) and need some advice on what are the most popular badminton strings. My expertise is more in tennis, and I really just have BG-65 in my stock of strings for badminton. What other strings are popular? Both for durability and some for playability too. Thanks,
Couple of popular strings that you should defiantly stock: BG65-Ti BG80 BG66 BG66 Ultimax Nanogy 98 Nanogy 95 BG55 Zymax 62 Zymax 67 Zymax 70 Just some that came off the top of my head, this isn't a definitive list but sure does include some of the more popular ones.
If you don't feel like going with that many strings right off the bat. I'd go with something like this: BG80 (must have) Nanogy 98 Zymax 67
my most popular strings are: BG80 NBG98 Victor VS850 there are some BG65 users too as it was popular and many players wants their strings to last as long as possible. BG66 is still widely popular in SE Asian countries, esp Malaysia and Indonesia. so likely you will see players from there asking for that.
That helps a lot. Thanks! In tennis hybrid stringing is quite popular. Stringing the mains and crosses with two different strings. Is that done in badminton?? Perhaps a more durable string (BG-65) for the mains and a more playable string (ie. BG-80) in the crosses.
When I started out, I went with BG 65 and BG 80 as my stocked strings. Now I'm running with BG 65, BG 80, BG 66 Ultimax (chose to pick it out of high reccomendations), Zymax 67 and Zymax 70. I have heard people mention BG 65 TI but I don't see any high demand. The Zymax strings are mainly for the varsity team I string for as the recreational player base I string for stick with Yonex. The Zymax strings are decent strings though, I personally use the the 70s and am hungry to try the 67s. In terms of hybrid stringing, I know of one or two people that have hybrid-strung racquets in the format that you mentioned. I tried it on my Voltric 80 but seldom use it so I'm not sure how it feels. I think in general the average player would not consider this but maybe you could suggest this setup.
A few people use it but it's not nearly as popular as it id in tennis. Most badminton players just stick with one string.
Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. I meant "Good business" and I wonder how this number is gonna compete with others. $90> for one reel of BG65 and you can do 23 rackets, the rest is ALL labor.
$30 is the going rate around here. And if you are a member of a local club I give you $5 off. So if you need your racquet done Udonming, just let me know! Spread the word....www.stringways.com
It is fine with me and good luck to your business. I am doing my own and spread the word for you in fact is gonna boost my business because $15 is just about the right # on the Westcoast. An experienced stringers don't ask people which strings is more popular because his accumulated business record shows everything.
there are usually 2 categories of stringers over here. ones which are retail business with a storefront. those have higher running costs and usually charge in the region of $25 for BG65. and those who are running off their homes. for those, the prices varies but mostly around $15-20 for BG65. they don't need to pay extra rent.
Plus, I hear Oshawa does not have many stringers so it is practically a monopoly if that is true. It is justified to an extent as, customers don't have many options. Now if you were in a more badminton-demanding city with moderate to high competition stringing businesses, the price definitely would be much lower.
