So I purchased a Pro's Pro Challenger a few months ago and was unsure if the 3-Prong base clamps (attached to the machine) are usable for Badminton racquets. I saw 5-Prong clamps for purchase online which are for badminton use but I don't want to purchase them if I can use the 3-Prong clamps supplied with the machine. Currently I have been using two Flying clamps from my old machine and I purchased two Yonex Flying Clamps (they were inexpensive)! Anyways, if the 5-Prong clamps are better I would probably pick them up but I also want to know if and WHY they are better or badminton-specific. Thanks.
i have the 5-prong clamps, but i only use them for the beginning and end of the main string and for the beginning of the cross string. for the rest i use yonex flying clamps. so i think you don't really need the 5-prong clamps.
It's the prong/tooth spacing that would be a problem with stock clamps - tennis ones are usually too wide when it comes to crosses. If you only use base clamps for tying knots, there should be no problem.
I know I do not need them as I have been stringing without them for all this time. I am wondering if it will save time if I put them to use. I suppose that makes sense, did not think of that.
