Hi. I'm new to learning to jump smash and I have one question that I always had in mind.

When you perform a jump smash, are you supposed to jump to the highest point you can or just enough off the ground that you feel comfortable? Like..how hard are you supposed to try to push off the ground?

    Thank you.

Really depends on how the shuttle is flying towards you. There is no point in jumping as high as you can if it is a flat reply.

No poinit in jumping higher than your are comfortable with at all. Doesn't help you much to jump 1 metre into the air if it mean your are totally out of balance and unable to hit the shuttle anywhere near the court. ;)
That being said, the higher you can take the shuttle the more angle you can get on your shot.

Well, jumpsmashing gives you extra power as you transfer your energy from your body to your wrist. So i think you should jump higher only if you can utilize the energy to hit more powerfully..

At the point of contact with the shuttle, you should actually aim to be starting your descent - i.e. just after the peak of your jump. Some may prefer to be at the highest point but the general advice is to be coming down from the jump so that you can get to the base, or the next shot quicker/earlier. You certainly should not be on th ascent!

Also, I forgot to mention that this thread should really be in the techniques section.
