Even though I've been playing for about two years i have a horrible habit of not fully extending my racquet before a swing. Any tips on how to fix?

Example: Elbow is bent while winding for hit such that the racquet is pretty much above my head as i go in to return. The result is that hardly any of my smashes end up going over the net.

I play in high school level.

You need to be able to comfortably hit strong clears before you know how to hit smashes. Then the smash is a matter of getting the strike point to be above you and in front of your racket shoulder by 8-12 inches and you power downward from there with forearm pronation.

When hitting a clear then, should i strive to have full extension of my arm? Basically that's my problem i guess. Arm extension.

Comfortably outstretched and almost full, but not fully extended.
