The current status of GB’s Olympics qualifications; * MS - Rajiv Ouseph at 21 with 35472 points, qualified. * WS - Susan Egelstaff at 39 with 25278 points, qualified. Elizabeth Cann behind at 50 with 23241 points. * MD - Chris Adcock / Andrew Ellis at 25 with 34414 points, one place from qualification. * WD - Mariana Agathangelou / Heather Olver at 25 with 35316 points. * XD - Chris Adcock / Imogen Bankier at 15 with 43050 points, qualified. Nathan Robertson / Jenny Wallwork behind at 23 with 38732 points. * WS, both Egelstaff and Cann are in the same qualification quarter for a place to face Juan Gu of Singapore in the first round. If Egelstaff win the battle between the two and get pass Juan Gu to the second round she will be almost 5000 points ahead of Cann, fair to say that it will be the end of the road for Cann. On the other hand if Cann win and get into the second round she will move ahead as GB’s WS1 with 600 points advantage, still everything to fight for. * MD, Adcock and Ellis are 1 place and 3500 points behind the Russian pair for the Olympics ticket. They need to be in the QF to overtake the Russian, there is only the Lee Yong Dae/Jung Jae Sung pair in the way. * WD, with the 7000 points deficit I think their chance are all but gone. * XD, Adcock/Bankier is currently ahead but unlikely to get pass the first round against the world champion and world no 1. A great chance for Robertson/Wallwork to catch up, they need a SF place to move above as GB’s XD1. The main obstacle will be INA’s Ahmad/Natsir, not easy but doable with the home crowd support.
Nice update on team GB. The mixed doubles is very, very tight. Adcock/Bankier haven't been able to produce another good result after the world championships.
both Susan and Elizabeth slaughtered before first round. Elizabeth will drop out of top 60 after this. Alan would she still qualify (forgetting susan for the moment) if she was sitting in that position come selection? Susan might be around that ranking also after she loses her big points from dutch and AE.
yes, she is eligible. But it's very difficult for the selection committee to pick a lower ranked player
Adcock/Bankier got bad luck with a worse draw than Robertson/White. they will be facing #1 Zhang/Zhao today while Robertson/White already moved to the next round beating a much weaker Songphon/Kunchala.
Because of Adcock/Bankier great victory and having matched the Robertson/Wallwork result, they have almost certainly guaranteed their qualification for OG. It would be mad if they didn't go... Draw opens up for them now too! Nathan/Jenny are playing against a really fresh Taipei pair, Whereas Adcock/Bankier have a hard game, but on home turf, anything is possible...
yes but BE suck up to Nathan all the time so nothing is guaranteed... If CA/IB get a SF or better result here though will surely end speculation...
Nathan s antique already. Why is BE wasting time and money on him. What s his best result in the last 12 months? Any upsets like CA/IB has achieved? Instead Nathan now loses to anybody and will be a disgrace to England.
