Hi BCers! Im not sure if this is the right palce to post haha but anyways... Just wanna ask if there are any harm if having 2 cold cans of 100 plus(325ml? cant really remember) after having a 2-3 hours badminton session? I mean is it over the sugar consumption level? or drinking cold drinks after sports are not good? anything? Pls advise
Ask your doctor. I normally drink Gatorade (or something similar) to replace lost electrolytes and water.
Unless you are a diabetic, I would not worry about it. Be aware that there are a whole lot of people who will tell you drinking cold water is bad for u. I usually ignore them
Yes i agree , gatorade is better than 100 plus as gatorade is not carbonated. Sugar wise i heard 1 gatorade bottle contains the average amount of sugar needed for the body in a day. But for me personally i think one bottle is fine along with water for dehydration. Plus from what i heard carbonated drinks are bad for athletes or anyone who plays sports.
I drank Gatorade before and it kind of tastes flat without the CO2. Anyway I drink about 1 litre of water during a 2 hour session and finish off with a 100 Plus can after that.
@ikki9394, do you drink just 2 cans after your session, or do you drink during the session as well? I usually mix a Gatorade sachet (or a bottle of Gatorade) with a big bottle of cold water. Not too cold, just cold enough to enjoy. By the way, those who would tell you that cold water is bad for you obvoiusly does not know a thing about fluid intake during sports. Cold, and flavored water which contains sodium will help any athlete boost his/her fluid intake. This article (PDF) will help you out with this. http://kslinternationalarchery.com/Training/Hydration/factfluid.pdf I know the link points to an archery website, but that was my previous job.
Hi everyone, Thanks for the input. @AzrinRain I drink 2 cans after session and usually I will drink another litre of water before I went to bed for the day. Apart from that, usually its kinda hard to find gatorade in the badminton centre in Malaysia. They usually just sell cans 100 plus. Btw, is having 2 cans of 100 plus on particular badminton session is over sugar consumption? Anyway, its carbonated... Think I should just buy them in bulk next time and mix with water and let the gas out before I drink it as my friend suggested...
Ah, i see. I would strongly advise you to drink during your session as well. Failure to do so will invite dehydration, which leads to a high core temprature, and leads to early fatigue. Drink whenever you can, between matches, small breaks, etc. Any window of opportunity you could get to drink is essential. If you go to places like Watsons, Guardian and Fitness Concept, ask if they have something called "Horley's Replace". (http://www.horleysprotein.co.nz/horleys-replace-hydration/) It's a powdered form of energy drink which you could mix with your cold drink at home.
Horley replace? Frankly speak, never heard of it... but how does it taste? So what u do just prepare cold water at home and mix it with the horleys replace and bring it to badminton session? I don't drink 100 plus during session because it somehow slows me down during game. Maybe usually I drink almost half a can when I have it. Bad habbit...
Frankly, it tastes like watered down Gatorade. But it does it's job, so i'm not complaining. I've actually gotten used to it. Yup, mix it and bag it. You drink a lot of because of the sugar in the 100 Plus. It makes you want more. Try dissolving that with water, and i can assure you that won't drink that much.
i personally dun drink carbonation drinks...such as 100 plus(normal 1) cos..i will burp the whole game.... luckily..i dun fart....... or so far...i didnt... who will dare to play with me?
i eat 1 banana 10mins before the game inbetween my 2hrs games i drank 3x 100plus then go for heavy meal after the games ) actually sport drink like 100plus should not carbonation or with gas as its not good for our games as u tend to release gases thru mouth during the match a proper sport drink should be gas / carbonation free... u can see none pro player drink carbonation drinks during their matches.
is this diet proper and did u have the heavy meal at night or morning? I am almost similar where tends to have huge mel after game. Did not take banana before game. Btw my weight is around 72kg at 180 cm height; is that diet mentioned proper for me?
