Knee support?
What does it do? My concept of it is so that it makes your knee straight right after you bend it (Lunges) so that you can get back into position.

you only need knee supporters if you've had previous injuries to the knee, eg. ligament or cartilage

i find that knee supports, especially ones with no straps have no real way of supporting the impact when you lunge or jump. you'll probably need something that will probably kill your blood circulation.
patella braces however keeps your ligaments in line so that your knee doesn't get out of place when you do an awkward step. you can use them as prevention even if you weren't injured but you should limit the use to "heavy" usage days, or else you wont build the supporting muscles around your knee.
