Thumbs up 2012 Swiss Open GP Gold: Qualifications to Quarter-Finals matches

    .
Our 2012 All England SSP players have completed their mission there last week.

Congratulations to those who have performed well.

Some of them are flying out to their next tournament today, to their next tournament, the 2012 Swiss Open GP Gold.

For our interested BCers, let's take a look at the matches of the 2012 Swiss Open GP Gold from the Qualifications (Tuesday 13-Mar-2012) to the Quarter-Finals (Friday 16-Mar-2012) matches.

Arrow Lee Chong Wei, the No.1 Mens Singles, will be missing

    .
Lee Chong Wei, the No.1 Mens Singles seed, was reported to have injury. He will therefore be not participating.

He will be flying home to Malaysia to seek medical attention.

Hoping that Iris Wang/Rena Wang [1] (USA) can make it into the main WD draw.

Their strongest opponents should be Jenny Wallwork/Gabrielle White (ENG).

    You don't know, suetyan......

The posts in the 2012 All England thread were so many that it took me more than an hour to read them all.

Then, it was arriving on Tuesday 13-March-2012 in Melbourne, Australia - the start of the 2012 Swiss Open GP Gold.

    Therefore I started this thread.

The tournamentsoftware draws are still from Friday, they show that some players have whithdrawn, e.g. Kenichi Tago, while Lee Chong Wei is still in the draw and not marked as withdrawn. Hope they update the draw soon.

Minatsu Mitani is posted in the main draw already. And she could probably be facing Wang Yihan [1] in Round 2.

Adriyanti Firdasari is promoted to the Main Draw but she has a tough assignment against Wang Yihan already. She's the only INA WS player competing in the Swiss Open GPG.

As Hau-Ge reported, Hayom, Simon, and Bona/Ahsan are no longer in the Draw.

In XD, the All-England 2012 Runner-Up Thomas Laybourn/Kamilla Rytter-Juhl also withdrew. Chance for Chris Adcock/Imogen Bankier or Nathan Robertson/Jenny Wallwork to step-up and fight for a place in SF.

XD is still INA's best bet for title with Tontowi Ahmad/Liliyana Natsir being the top-seed. Once again, its imperative for them to win this one considering all the main opponents (2 CHN and 2 DEN pairs) are not competing this week. Mohd Rijal/Debby Susanto also need a good result to show that they can be counted as INA's 2nd XD pair.

MS R64 will be played today, which will relieve the backlog of fixtures for Wednesday.

    MS R64
    Du Pengyu
[8] vs Indra Bagus Ade Chandra - no chance for the Europe-based INA player.

Taufik Hidayat [10] vs Derek Wong Zi Liang - Taufik needs to be above Tommy in the rankings table for him to qualify for his 3rd Olympics. He should progress to at least R16.

Vladimir Malkov vs Andre Kurniawan Tedjono - I hope Andre also wins his first match before facing Chen Jin.

Sony Dwi Kuncoro vs Lee Hyun Il [5] - no chance for Sony. I don't know why he's still being sent to compete in Europe.

Valeriy Atraschenkov vs Tommy Sugiarto [15] - Tommy should advance.

Yup, beside Minatsu Mitani also Adrianti Firdasari to replace Pi Hongyan and Carolina Marin respectively
Many last minute withdrawals particularly in MS category such as Kenichi Tago, Marc Zwiebler, Rajiv Ouseph, Simon Santoso, etc.

I just have a look the draw of Swiss Open. Since Lee Chong Wei has withdrawn, it is an another chance for Chen Jin to move forward. I personally believe Chen Jin is true no.4 in curent World Men Single ranking. Only Lin Dan, Lee Chong Wei and probably CL can confidently beat him. He just put too much pressure on himself over the last few months which caused him losing so many matches that he should win. If he play his normal games he should win Swiss open. Lin Dan is not interested in helping him this time. Lin Dan has prepared to help Chen Jin in both Korean open and All England and only found that Chen Jin lost before he can be any help.

Anyway, Chen Jin still can get help from DPY and CL this time. His main opponent in the early round is JOJ. He should beat JOJ himself. I think DPY will try his best to beat TH and SWH and then let chen Jin win the semifinal. I think CL will try his best to clear the opponents in the second half and let CJ win the Final. I think CL can complete this mission if he is willing to help and plays his normal game. On the other hand, Peter Gade will face a lot of challenge from H Yun, T Sugiarto in the early round, Lee H Il in the quarter final and of course Chen Long in semi Final. So, I think it is aonther golden chance for Chen Jin and hope he doesn't mess it up again.
