Unfortunately Sony happened to face Lee Hyun Il in Round 1. Bad draw for Sony.

Otherwise, I am certain that Sony could make it at least into Round 2.

BTW, I am expecting a Lee Hyun Il-vs-Chen Long Semi-Final at this 2012 Swiss Open.

    MS R32
    Taufik Hidayat
[10] vs Henri Hurskainen - motivation is one big problem for Taufik. If he can somehow sort that out, he might get far this week.

    Chen Jin
[4] vs Andre Kurniawan Tedjono - Andre could contribute a little in thwarting Chen Jin's bid for a ticket to Olympic but I doubt he can beat the CHN player.

Viktor Axelsen vs Tommy Sugiarto [15] - a tricky tie for Tommy and I hope he can deliver before facing Peter Gade tomorrow.

    MD R32
    Hendra A. Gunawan/Alvent Yulianto Chandra
[5] vs Roger Schmid/Gilles Tripet - should be a routine victory for AG/Alvent who have been disappointing so far this year.

    Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan
[4] vs Gan Teik Chai/Tan Bin Shen - ditto for Kido/Hendra, whose Olympic hope is very very slim now.

Angga Pratama/Rian Agung Saputro vs Liu Xiaolong/Qiu Zihan - should be an interesting tie for the INA's MD vs CHN's MD for the future. The CHN pair has the edge.

    WS R32
    Wang Yihan
[1] vs Adrianti Firdasari - can Firda upset Wang? Slim chance

    WD R32
Alex Bruce/Michelle Li vs Vita Marissa/Nadya Melati - Vita/Nadya have been on a slide since rising to the top 10 last year.

Anneke Feinya Agustine/Nitya Krishinda Maheswari vs Jung Kyung Eun/Kim Ha Na - I think the KOR pair will win this one.

    Mariana Agathangelou/Heather Olver
vs Meiliana Jauhari/Greysia Polii - should be a victory for the INA pair but they will be stopped in R16.

    XD R32
    Tontowi Ahmad/Liliyana Natsir
[1] vs Johannes Schoettler/Sandra Marinello - a title is imperative for the newly crowned All-England champion.

Hendra Setiawan/Vita Marissa vs Sudket Prapakamol/Saralee Thoungthongkam [3] - the THA pair has the edge.

    Mohd Rijal/Debby Susanto
vs Michael Fuchs/Birgit Michels [7] - Rijal/Debby have been improving slightly since end of last year and they have beaten the German pair earlier this year.

Well Done to Rena Wang and Iris Wang of the USA.

I think Wallwork/White are still affected by their silly internet discussion/dispute with Bankier.

I agree. Lee Hyun il played really well this year and gave Lee Chong Wei a lot of trouble last week. It will be a good game if they both make it to the semifinal.

With current Sony's rank, there will always be bad draw for him. With streak of loses combined with mentally haunted by his back injury, there is no way he can defeat top 20 MS. LHI has shown good come back by 2009, but he even started with IC tournament combined wih GP/GPG then progressively climbing his ranking.. Tommy Sugiarto also shown how to manage tournaments and maintain his ranking positively.

This should be interesting match between Wang SX and Tai TY, two semifinalists of last week AE

Indeed, SDK should take part IC tourneys to upgrade his WR before he step up into higher level, poor decision by PBSI.

Barring any upsets, Towi/Liliyana should meet tricky test at last eight against MAS XD Chan/Goh, a rematch of AE semifinal last Saturday

There is no BWF stream on Youtube coming, as it is not a Super Series event ...
Livestream by the tournament also ends on Friday due to tv rights for the weekend.
