I beg to differ, Chen Long is not just a hardworker or workhorse, he does have speed, power and technique (not sure about his mental toughness unless we get to see him under pressure-cooker situation, like in a team championship where he must win the crucial match), just that we don't see it today for reasons that he knows better, how else could he have beaten Lee CW 3 out of 5 meetings recently? Chen Jin, Nguyen TM, for example, are typical runners and how did they fare against Lee CW? Lee CW is one of the two best attackers in the world to create chinks in their opponents' armour, no matter how good their defenses,in my opinion. So how did Chen Long beat him on those few occasions, certainly not by defending and stroke play alone, more by attacking and counter-attacking, in addition to great defence,of course? But today we saw very little of that in Chen Long, instead he landed himself in trouble time after time, playing into his opponent's hands. Just my two-cents worth. Just wait and see, you might just be wowed by Chen Long next time, if his recent past performance is anything to go by.
Of course he has speed, power and technique. Its just not exceptional in relation to other players. He is an allrounder, which means he is suceptible to players who has exceptional abilities in some departments.

It does however mean that he can create some upsets if he has a good day and his opponent doesnt.

I look forward to being wowed, but you can tell if a player has class even if he is having a bad day and IMO CL doesnt.

Yes....they learn the answers to the questions....not about the real subject and an allround understanding.

I think you guys are too quick to put Chen Long down. Just as one big win does not a summer make, similarly, one critical loss does not a winter make. As if his recent spectacular performances don't count for much, are your memories so short? This chap is still only 22, a product of Chinese KungFu badminton trained and guided by grandmaster coaches, you don't expect him to continue developing his game, overcome his weaknesses, and come out leaner and meaner, sharper and stronger? Rote training can only do that much for the dedicated diligent student, without the requisite natural talent, even the best coach in the world cannot create geniuses or just bring out your full potential. If rote training can do that much, then other great coaches,eg Morten Frost, Park JB, would have produced one Chen Long by now from their cohorts. I rest my case.

JPN won 21-18. 21-17. They are very fast around the court and very light footed.

just wondering if Endo/Hayakawa also go through to Final.
I start to think JPN have chance to have 2 MDs in top 8 if tomorrow MD final is all-JPN

    - The other coaches dont do the rote training style, not as much as China me thinks. The 'student' is supposed to learn to think for themselves
    - We shall see after OG 2012 how CHen Long does, he should do well, with all the resources available to him and LD,LCW,TH, PG retire. It's just Chen Long dont wow some of us, including me. Chen Jin have not wowed me all the years, I regard Bao as better, before his knee injuries
