The same match viewed from a different angle gives a huge contrast. Dull and somewhat boring: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qbRTEZ0rc4M Fast and exciting: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wy1x_vGV_wY
I thought you had dug up an old thread! Could've sworn there is one named pretty much the same? In any case I prefer to record a bit off-center as well but not as much as the above, more like on one of the sidelines ...
I think the camera angle is a major reason that makes a badminton match seem dump and boring on TV to many people. I always believe a simple change can make a huge difference and potentially a strong impact on viewers' reaction towards our exciting badminton. I hate the dumpiest center flat view.

I agree that both angel and sound plays a big part. Compare this video of the Frence open MD finals to any "normal" MD match: The angel is only slightly lower but is makes the play seems much faster together with the improved sound it makes the game look way more exciting.
This is one of my favorite angles, albeit this match only shows the best rallies of the match: Unfortunately it only focuses mostly on 1 side of the court, however it's up close to the action so we can see every move the players make.
