Hi wanted to know if anybody had used the carlton razor rackets (I’m looking at the V1.2but any review of the rage will do) they have a very strange (but cool looking) string method, is this a gimmick or does it affect the performance?
I have a Razor V1.0. It is a nice racket but not quite head heavy enough for my liking. Very solid feeling racket though with decent power. Looks great strung with yellow x67. I have put a review on the Carlton fans club thread.
Carlton withdrew this racquet because the string came out of the grooves. By the time they fixed it everybody did not want to know. Paul www.badminton-coach.co.uk
They did fix the problem with the string slip, so problem free now. And DirectSports has stock, I'm not sure SportsDirect would.
Now that would be interesting as I understand that the people behind SportsDirect are the same as the owners of Carlton brand. Paul www.badminton-coach.co.uk
The issue existed with the 'prototype V1.0' and this was amended for the release of the 'Razor V1.0'. Indeed Sports Direct own Dunlop Slazenger who own Carlton.
i really like your reviews so if you do review this let me know beacse it is a very cool looking racket
String slip still a problem on newer Carlton Razor rackets I have two of the prototype V1.0 rackets which I do like using but as many have said here the issue is with the strings slipping out of the side grooves. However the problem did not go away with subsequent versions of the racket. I was given a Razor V1.1 to re-string this week as two of the cross strings have slipped out of the grooves. Possibly using a higher string tension will keep them in place....not sure but will give it a try.
