Title is self-explanatory really. Just want to know before I go to 'United Sports' in Barkingside.

I am located in East London, but don't mind travelling.

Drop me a PM or reply directly in this thread; I don't mind. The racket concerning this is the NanoSpeed 9900, which apparently has a new grommet system.

    Thanks in advance.

    Professional Stringers

I would advise against restringing your racket, especially an expensive one, at United Sports. This is based on my personal experience of a broken racket after a dodgy string job at the shop.

I would recommend a professional stringer (Colin Triplow) based in Kent. Although a little on the expensive side, he provides a mail-order restringing service and I have been very satisfied with the restringing on my APACS Tantrum 300 and Victor Superwave 35 (both using Zymax 67 at 23 x 25 lbs)

    His website is http://www.colinthestringer.com/

    All the best.

Wow, thanks a lot for the heads up. I've contacted him via e-mail and am awaiting his reply.
I was planning on going unitedsports this week, but now I'll definitely not be going. Not after hearing about your broken racket and also after looking at the dozens of satisfied testimonials.

How much is the actual service minus delivery? (in case you answer before him)

And slightly off topic (I forgot to ask him in the e-mail) does he provide stencilling?

I dropped off two rackets at his house and he charged me £37 for both, which included packaging and postage back to my home in East London.

Both rackets were stenciled with the APACS and Victor logo, which was a pleasant surprise.

    All the best.

I have also heard negative comments about United Sports. Personally, I would avoid it like the plague! Although, saying that, my friends get their rackets from there and haven't had a problem so far. He does use very tension though!

If you don't mind sending over to Kensal Rise in North West London, I can highly recommend my stringer of 15+ years.

Gefen sports, www.gefensports.co.uk. Ask for Israel or Adrian.

Their quality and consistency is second to none in my view. They've supported me throughout my tournament days and unlike a few places I could mention, they've never compromised any one of my racquets.

I have actually bought a racket from Rudy before and have had rackets strung by him - very good indeed!

£37 for 2 rackets! He is either very experienced and has strung for pros, then he could probably afford to charge that much, but I only charge £10 a racket and stenciling is neither expensive or time consuming!

    Bump.

I've been using a mail service for my current stringer, but due to the new price changes for Royal Mail, I'm considering changing to preferably a stringer more local.

I live in East London. Either PM me or post here if you are a professional stringer.

Try to google Rudy Stringing. I think he is setting up a new website.
