Can I wear squash shoes instead of proper badminton shoes?? Will they prevent my shin splints that i currently have
Shin splints are easily caused by a lack of muscle as well as applying too much force on your shins, possibly by balancing on the balls of your feet. Instead of paying money to buy shoes to help you solve this problem, work on your legs and research more about prevention rather than indirect treatment.
They can also be part of growing up. I used to get them too. Some people are more susceptable than others. Keiron Dyer (Footballer) used to suffer from them too.
i could be wrong...i am not a expert in human body... where's the article.. btw shoes protects yr feet n yr lower limbs..up...get proper shoes would b best... i have see alot of players get feet injuries due to wrong use of footwear..
took it off wikipedia: "Improper footwear, including worn-out shoes can also contribute to shin splints." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shin_splints) bio-mechanically, it happens when your shin muscles collapses from either hyper-extension or fatigue of the shin muscles. In badminton it would only happen when you do an improper lunge whenby you land with the toes rather than the heel. so try to avoid this. your shoes hardly contribute to improper footwork unless its the wrong type of shoes, like using bowling shoes or worn out. anyways, the other parts mentioned that it occurs to both "highly-active individuals" or most likely "increasing activity, intensity, and duration too quickly". so try to taper your session/workout properly
