I dont know if he is good at stringing or is crap at it I know F all about stringing, Is there anything I can ask my stringer to see if he knows his stuff?
1. Do you use top-down or bottom up? 2. Do you prestretch? 3. Do you add 10% for the crosses? There is something to be said for checking that your stringer isn't just a tennis cowboy who thinks he can do badminton because it's "all the same". If you get an answer AND a reason in response to the above, you'll be fine.
if you are dealing with tennis stringers, ask them how many mains they string. if they string 20, run away.
You should be fine. The third is probably the most important when it comes to badminton because in tennis it's the norm (ish) to go 10% looser on the crosses. The direction (TD/BU) is less important, but most tennis stringers I know - at least the ones to whom I give the time of day - will always go top-down. The prestretch might be a non-issue if their machine is electric: no extra effort.
I tried TD and BU and I cant explain y i seems to enjoy playing in TD more Can someone help? Placebo?
in terms of playability, you really need to have a double blind test with a few different players in order to establish which one is better.
Nah - the questions are only to find out whether or not the stringer understood the questions. With regard to TD vs BU, the debate rages on, but I will go on the record and say I also prefer TD.
I always do bottom up as I pull the first cross string... and yes, 10% extra on crosses as well as pre-stretches...
Is there any advantages in TD? Yonex recommends BU, if we do TD what will be the effect on the FRAME?
