anyone got recommendation for a good string mover? i gave away my old one when i sold the ASE. now i am looking for another one. the options seems to be limited. either the Eagnas one, or the MBS one which i think is from AEF? are there any other ones in the market?

Try to get one with a U/V-shaped hook (like both of the above), rather than a "question mark" shaped one; the latter needs more wrist work. (I noticed you using your awl in your video - I used to do that as well.)

the Eagnas one then. it also seems a bit more pointy than the other one. the MBS one looks exactly like the one i got from the ASE: i am ok with it, the Eagnas one just look slightly better.

Dental floss I sometimes use my awl to lift the blocking string, but the technique is not so neat and it is easy to damage the string if you're not careful.
I agree, Eagnas' string mover works well and seems more practical than MBS's. However the tip breaks really easily so you might have to buy another one every couple months/years.
Lift Main String at Non-shared Grommets Dental floss actually work very well. Alternatively, use a short piece of useless ZM62.
Yeah, I don't remember how though, but it wasn't anything exceptional. Maybe I dropped it, and it weakened it or something but I didn't throw it on a wall or anything crazy
i will have to try dental floss. for some of the racket, it is impossible to fit anything through, even zm62 is too thick.
ok. i ordered the hook/pick set. if it doesn't work at least it will be a good tool to threaten the kids.
I agree with the dental floss idea. But I also have a little etching set from a local hardware store. It looks like a set of those picks dentists use to remove plaque. There are curved, bent and straight ends to them. They come in handy for clearing grommets, acting as a string mover and (occasionally) loosing a poorly-started knot.
That's very good idea Master Fidget. Please be careful not to prick the main string that is blocking the non-shared grommet.
