Has anyone used these strings before? (www.forten.com)

I actually received a few samples of them before I decided to carry a different brand of strings, but I never got around to trying them out. They actually have an interesting concept of stringing a racquet with two different types of string; one on the main and one on the cross.

Pretty expensive string though for us Canadians...

Here's some info about the Aramid fibre used in their strings. Apparently,
Aramid is the generic name for Kevlar.

    http://www.azom.com/details.asp?ArticleID=1384

    Aramid Fiber Characteristics
    - No melting point
    - Low flammability
    - Good fabric integrity at elevated temperatures
    - Para-aramid fibers, which have a slightly different molecular structure, also provide - outstanding strength-to-weight properties, high tenacity and high modulus.

Sounds like it keeps tension well and gives good power.

I've strung and played with Forten strings in the past. I found them to be relatively unimpressive, and not comparable to even the BG65 strings. Unfortunately I bought 6 packs at that time and wound up giving several away.

The string was quite unresponsive and felt quite clumsy. At the time, the price I paid was roughly comparable to price of a pack of BG65 ($6).

I've seen prior recommendations by Forten to use different cross-strings, and I think this is basically due to the fact that they were unable to blend or compromise both qualities into a single string - that is durablilty and playability/responsiveness.

well, the idea is sound. the difference in length between the main and cross string produces difference in response between the two. so to make the response similar, they make the cross thing thicker to match the response of the main.

but it looks like a sound idea, but the implementation lacking.

Badrad, which string were you using? Was it the one that I had described or another one?

I think they're a little behind in the game. I have to say their rating system is pretty hilarious though. :)
