Hi guys, Currently using Victor VS850 on my BSLYD. Really love it but the tension runs out pretty fast... Im currently looking up for a replacement to it. A few strings that I am looking at those strings mentioned above. Can you guy give me some advise?
dont go for bg 80,too hard feeling,bg 80 power, dull feeling, you should go for 68 ti,it is a soft string so string it about +1 lbs your current tension.
Thanks for reply... Actually Im looking for something most similar to VS850. I've heard BG80p is something between BG80 and 66, has more repulsion as well. My friend also recommend bg68ti. Hmmm think gonna string it 2morrow.
just do a pre-strech on your VS-850.... I had that aswell and now... it loses its tension after quite some time... pre-stretch does really help... BTW: I would NOT go for the BG80P... it has a idk what it is called... but let's say weird feeling IMO I'd say BG80 is the closest to VS-850 I play @ 28,5 lbs
VS850: Awesome feel but the tension drops real fast. very reasonable price. Just ask your stringer to pre-stretch the string. ECP really helps BG68Ti: Not my personal favorite, but it is liked by many other people. To me, durability is average, repulsion is decent, hitting sound is REALLY nice, but impressive sound does always not translate into impressive power BG80: My favorite. Hard feeling, good repulsion, almost good in all aspects. BG80P: Something I did not really get used to (and personally a bit disappointed). Softer feeling than BG80 and dull sound, good durability. Power is there but this string is DIFFERENT to BG80. Other strings to consider: NBG98: Medium feeling. Excellent repulsion, excellent power. ZM62/65/67: One of the best strings in retaining tension. BG66 UM: Nice feeling and repulsion but loses feel and tension over time.
My friend bought a 200mm ZM65 reel. Gonna buy around 20 or 30m from him for $3 per 10m Well good at retaining tension but also seem quite fragile. My friend snapped ZM62 2 times in a week lmao. Perhaps gauge too thin for him Not going for BG80p cause alot bad reviews from u guys and my friends as well. perhaps the only options left are BG80 or BG68ti. Will decide tomorrow when I bring it to restring
Yeah... I really loved the VS850. My vs850 is actually pre-stretched but the tension still drop very fast. It only last me around 3weeks :crying: My wallet gonna cry if I string once every three weeks...
Was your friend's ZM62 1st gen or 2nd gen? If it is 1st gen I am not really surprised. ZM62 2nd gen has surprisingly good durability considering its gauge, though its life span will never match that of BG65/ZM70. There are several factors constributing to early string breakage, e.g. mishits, bad stringer, worn grommets.
Really?!??! How long do you do your pre-strech and with what intensity?! I do about 2-3h with 3-3,5 kg weight... (I cut it in half, since I do 4 knots, and let it hang so it will pulled for quite some time)
I just do it the old fashioned way... loop a 10m length around a smooth sturdy pole (eg. stairs) and wrap the loose ends around an old racket handle, and pull on it hard until it stretches by 4-6 inches. Not too much or else it'll lose elasticity.
yeah I started like this... but I got too lazy... so I chose that method pretty easy and comfortable hahaha and my strings don't loosen up that fast
^^ with that weight method, have you checked how much the strings have stretched in total compared to an unstretched piece?
Nah not exactly.. but it happened to be quite a length.. can't really tell the exact length... will measure next time I string my rackets but as I say.. that don't loosen up that fast... maybe after 5-6 weeks... up to 2 months... but I do cut after 2 months anyway so I put some weight.. like the weights of a barbell... take to 5m string pull it through and then hang it up...
Uhmm... not sure whether is v1 or v2. @cheetah and visor I don't exactly know how much it has been pre-stretched.. I just hand it to the stringer and it is 4 knots. Should I try other stringer?
^^ if your stringer uses an ECP (electronic constant pull) machine with pre stretch function, then you're fine if not, then you'll have to pre stretch the string yourself first using those methods mentioned, before handing over the string to your stringer
You can ask your stringer how long it has been stretched... I'd say it should be stretched at least 6 inches... BTW: Visor I stretched my 850 today and I got ~8 inches so far... they still hang
Just stringed my racquet today with BG68ti 26x28lb 4 knots. Feel quite nice... gonna shoot some cannons tonight
How's ur new string ikki9394? i'm also using bg68ti at 26lb now. the smashes feel really sharp and i would recommend it. the last three months i were testing li ning ap70/yonex bg80/bg65/zymax string(i forgot which). this one feels the best for me. ap70/zymax breaks too fast, while bg80 lacks feel. nothing beats bg65 and bg68ti for me.
