I was wondering if any of you are aware of any places in London where there are tournaments hosted? Some sort of competition or something?

I'm aware of a lot of clubs, but I've never actually entered a tournament in my 3 years of playing badminton (I'm still quite young ). People who play badminton are usually very competitive and I'm surely one of them

I live in East London, so any around that area will be preferred but I actually won't mind travelling a bit.

Please post the venue, address, date and prices to enter along with additional details.

    Thanks in advance.

There is a tournament for all levels players-Badminton Bonanzas in London-Badminton Bonanza

9-10 June 2012 at University of East London

So, what is a Badminton Bonanza?

A world class venue opens its doors to welcome the general public and badminton players of all ages and on court ability for big, big weekend of lighthearted badminton competition.

But it isn't your usual 'all guns blazing tournament where winning is everything. Oh no - all weekend the emphasis is on fun and playing out friendly rivalries in a relaxed, laid back and highly sociable arena.

Do I have to be any good to get on court and play at a Bonanza?

Of course not! That's the beauty of the bonanzas. Whether you're new to badminton, a casual court timer looking to compete for the first time, a seasoned pro on the club circuit or a league standard player, there's a competition category to suit.
Just one rule: NO COUNTY PLAYERS!

Thanks for the heads up. Applying right now but I can't decide whether to do Adult club or league...

Any suggestions (if you've played in any one of these)?

I think I'll do club to be safe, unless suggested otherwise.

There are a lot players at next to county level competing in league groups. So it is definitely for league 1 or 2 players.
The Club group would be a safe one, but again there could be some league 2 or 3 players as well. But it should be more fun if you are not beginners.

Thanks for the response. That's one tournament I've applied to...

    Any more? :D

Edit: Can you watch the league one if you lose/wait in club?

Yes, you can watch all the ongoing games during the whole tournament. And events organiser might also throw in some demo games from pro-players. There was an equipment display and fun smashing test last year as well. It is defintely worth it and it is in East London!!!:)

Whereabouts in London are you based?

It's now the end of the league season, but there will be plenty of clubs you can join or play as a visitor in over the summer and you can decide what level you're at and find a suitable club.

OK, I've joined the Badminton Bonanza tournament and will be playing in 'Adult Singles Club.' I might even see a few people here over there ;)

I also tried joining the Leyton Youth games, but I missed the deadline. I've tried texting and e-mailing them but they are not responding. Here's the link.

Is there some sort of application form or something because I can't find one on the website. Will I be able to just 'walk in' as it is just qualifiers?
