    Default just played some high level badminton and i thought i was gonna have a heart attack

    wow. never pushed myself that hard before. I played a doubles game with these three dudes who are considered high level at our club and I was able to hang for the first 7 or 8 points and then started fading away badly lol.


    at one point i felt my arms and legs shaking.


    just wanted to share.

    Hah that's exactly what I observe when our juniors are playing doubles with us. The first few points they seem to be the same level but after a few points they begin to struggle. Must be nerves or the fact that we started playing better.

    Heart attack's are fun, though, aren't they thumpsky!
    Like you, I'm not the best in my club. But it sure feels good to be invited to play with the best once in a while. It makes you find a whole new gear. It's not just the physicality, it's the mental effort to gear-up your anticipation and spatial awareness to match the pace of the game.

    the pace was extreme for me.

    but at the same time i was totally amped. i found myself getting to the birdie faster and making shots i could never make before.

    i was playing my heart out. and it eventually gave out lol

    that's definitely how i felt. it was almost like a fight or flight response.

    i knew i was in for a beating, but i wanted to die a beautiful 300 style death.

    i think the most interesting part was not just the physical intensity but mental aspect as well.

    for someone at my level it was a bit of sensory overload to play at that pace, making super quick decisions, etc. when for other people this was set play type stuff.

    Italicizing is kind of a protocol, I think.

    Whereas many of the "names" are unusual and not capitalized, the italics make it stand out as a name and not just another word of text.

    Yeah I know what you mean Thumpsky. When I first started out a few years ago, being invited to play with the more advanced players of the club was a huge experience for me. Now that a few years have passed, I've equaled or at least surpassed those players now (granted I play a lot more often than they do because they don't have as much time nowadays). But you keep meeting new players of higher skill levels and sometimes you find a higher gear to try to compete with those players with but then realize you're not fit enough to do so, which is why you burn out after 8-9 points. It's nice to constantly play with better players than you because than you can set goals as to what areas you want to improve in to be more competitive when you play them again.

    i wonder why you dont have the mental effort every session
    as you see you can reach that niveau easily, just practise more focused!

    its always a great feeling when you feel like you played better than anytime before
