    What is the draw for the knockout stage?

    A vs B, C vs D in the SF?

    the knockout stages will be based on the May 17 world ranking to determine playoff seeds, and then lots were drawn, and the opponents in the group may meet again in the playoffs. The group matches will be played 5 games, playoffs 5 games system.

    It's a very difficult draw for China in thomas cup.......at least they dont have meet Den/kor until the very final...they have to get past Indonesia first which is gonna be tricky encounter.

    really? how so?

    last time they played against each other was in 2010, a 3-0 white wash;
    before that, in 2006, another 3-0 white wash;
    and before that, in 2004, 5-0 white wash.

    so, has INA improved leap and bound since then? NO.
    how about CHN, definitely YES.

    You will not know whether they will not meet Den/Kor in SF until the draw for the QF takes place.

    Quite. INA MS chance of victory....less than 5%....MD1.....even less.

    I can only see another 5-0 coming up.

    As for eng....less than INA!

    Yup, the knock-out stage draw should be held on 22nd May 2012 (based on tentative schedule).

    The top two of each group will advance into QF, on paper scenario :
    THOMAS Cup
    A => CHN, INA
    B => JPN, RUS
    C => DEN, MAS
    D => KOR, GER

    UBER Cup
    W => CHN, INA
    X => JPN, THA
    Y => KOR, GER
    Z => TPE, DEN

    Indeed, it happened to KOR Thomas team 2 years ago when they're drawn with CHN at group-stage and met CHN once again in last eight (KO stage).

    Really looking forward to this event!
    The winners of the group stage seem to be pretty obvious...

    In 2004, CHN fielded Lin Dan, Cai Yun/Fu Haifeng, Bao Chunlai, Sang Yang/Zheng Bo, and Xia Xuanze (not quite sure about the latter three).
    In 2006, they fielded Lin Dan, Cai Yun/Fu Haifeng, and Bao Chunlai.
    In 2010? Lin Dan, Cai Yun/Fu Haifeng, and Chen Jin.

    Whitewash, yes. But the main guns of CHN team for 4 consecutive TC are basically the same. LD and CY/FHF.
    So much for improvement. :rolleyes:

    hmm, like jagdpanther said, china likely will still use the same players as 8 years ago for the 1st and 2nd match, but indonesia on the other hand will has some new faces. and for addition, the men team of INA made an all indonesian final in axiata cup while ago. it's an improvement i think. :)

    @miqilin7: there is actually 1 group of death. Group A deserve the title, with CHN, INA and GBR TC inside. hehe

    According to post #11, UC draw should be:
    X: TPE, THA, NED
    Z: JPN, DEN, USA

    I think Indonesia should consider MD form :

    1. Ryan/ Angga
    2. Ahsan / Hendra

    or
    1. Ahsan / Hendra
    2. Ryan / Alvent

    the rest is hoping for Simon and Tommy to play in their best perform.

    China vs Indonesia TC:

    MS1: 60:40
    MD1: 70:30
    MS2: 90:10
    MD2: 0:100
    MS3: 60:40

    China looks good to get a win by 4-1.

    Don't make jokes please

    Don't make jokes please. Indonesia has no chance whatsoever of beating China!
    In the group stage Indonesia probably won't even field their strongest lineup, but save the energy for the playoff.

    IMO INA probably has one the worst teams ever in TC history.

    1. MS: Simon has never really stepped up when it mattered the most
    2. MS: Taufik perhaps, but it seems like he's not keen on playing and wants th younger players like Dionysios to take the beating. Anyway Taufik is not in a shape where others are afraid to play him.
    3. MS: Tommy a journeyman with no big results at all.

    1. MD & 2. MD both mediocre pairings. One possibility might be Kidho/Setiawan and Ahsan/Alven, but still nothing that should scare the pants off China with a line up like this.

    Lin Dan, Chen Long, Chen Jin, Fu/Cai, Biao/ Guo.

    Realistically, Chn 2nd MD is so weak.( even Angga/Ryan beat them last week). The rest is all good.
