it may look ghetto but its solid as a rock yo lol cheap as poo too, metal cylinder + drilling is too expensive, this i knock it dead with $2.50 haha
visited two home depots apparently they don't have any patterned screw on the top in my 8m 70 spec so I had no choice really, had to use washers, so the top is pronounced hence the gaying of fixed clamps (i don't use fixed anyway)

Like biggybil says, that's a pretty rough method for raising the turntable that also exposes bolt heads on the turntable making the fixed clamps unusable. No doubt, a better job could be done that achieves 360 degree rotation, keeps the turntable level and stable, and preserves the use of the fixed clamps.

Try Ackland for countersink bolts and that will solve your problem.

May I suggest a true Canadian way, use a hockey puck instead of the nuts.

surprisingly the local hardware store did not offer any "patterned head" (excuse my non-existent hardware vocabulary) eg. cross, line, square, star etc. for the screws (the screw type is M8-70: M8 = 8mm? 70 = the length) thats why I had to use this flat unpatterned heads + washer (without washers they just fall right into the hole, very difficult to tighten) that get in the way of the fixed clamp. I will try to find the proper screws from an online source later.
thank you for your valuable input on modifying the turning base, it is indeed much easier than raising the height of the mounts or the north/south pole bases.
