Hi, I hope no one minds, but I've been looking around on the internet to see if I can date or value this racket as I have just been clearing out my attic and found it in a box, in barely used condition. Many thanks
20-25 years, mass produced and popular model so not rare in that sense. Probably only rare in absolute new condition with plastic wrap on the handle and even then this is not the first colourway so not as highly collectible as those would be. Value: depends on if you're lucky enough to find a buyer who collects them rather than just looking for something to play with and then maybe 30-40GBP (on the high side) if the grip is in mint condition? Feels like Cash in the Attic
haha, thanks very much for replying, much appreciated. Someone has offered me £10 for it as a 'practice racket' so I guess I best take it.
this is a very popular model.. if you have the green cap one, people will value it more (as it is Lim Swie King colour racket) I have the orange one.. £10 is not a bad deal, but really, this racket should not be used as practice racket, it should be framed and put it on the wall as prized collection!
Only if you are a badminton nut . For the new wave anything with the old Yonex logo makes it special , doesn't make it worth more (you can dig up dozens of threads around here with people having dug up the very same racket wondering if it's worth much). Yes E stands for the colour and this is not said green one. Also said "people" don't tend to live in the UK
is the first picture what is meant by a green cap? Few more pictures for identification. Maybe I should start playing again?!
Here is a picture that includes the green one (both blue and red are later colours, then there's also the upright vs the horizontal logo like on yours, with horizontal being a newer/later version still than the upright like in the following pic): http://www.flyker.cn/attachment/200812/17/59_1229487378vM8u.jpg
Here is an old similar thread to compare your enquiry with http://www.badmintoncentral.com/for...814-How-much-is-a-Yonex-B-8500-B-racket-worth Can never hurt to start playing again yourself instead
ah yes I had read that thread, as it was a 'B' and blue and they talked about green and mine is an 'E' and a teal colour, I thought it must be a totally different one?? Still confused, haha
Was just wondering the same . Only really noticed later on, meant to say the letter indicated the colour indeed so no idea really why yours says E. Perhaps a sign of being a later version still? For reference found this pic of the upright older logo style version (also 8500B). But like I said it only has value to a real collector as part of a collection like (seems to be missing a greenie ) But you can always try your luck at the buy & sell forum here and see if some anonymous collector presents itself. Chances are they will come from abroad (and that is not a hint it will be me; don't collect rackets, do collect plenty of other useless stuff )
hmm curioser and curioser! Well the last time I remember playing badminton (presumably with this racket) was in early 1993.
well,i have this model with red t-joint n cone shaft.at the moment,i gave it to my 2 yr old son for basic practise
