With the retirement/disbandment of the world's 2 most dominant pairings, i.e Fu HF/ Cai Y, Lee YD/Jung JS and maybe possibly Boe/Mogensen, Kido/Setiawan, Koo KK/Tan BH on the cards, I find that there will be a vacuum left behind as there is no pairings thats as dominant or colorful as these..i wish they'll rescind their intentions...

Kinda understand your sentiment... but Cai, Jung, BoMo, Kido, they're all 30 something, which is not easy to withstand constant training and tournaments. Koo/Tan... well, I don't know what they're up to, given their rather lacklustre performance in the past 2 years.

However, there are some interesting pairs from Korea Ko/Yoo and Kim/Kim. And from Thailand Issara/Jongjit is a dynamic pair to watch for as they just won the India Open MD two days ago.

I think Kidho/Hendra not retiring yet. Hendra is still good. Like Candra Wijaya or Tony Gunawan, some players can still play a high standard until mid 30s. But some may have decided to retire early due to recurring injury or just pursuing other things.

There is no shortage of great doubles players after this year.

Even with upcoming players, there's no denying that the top 2 seeds are levels above the rest of the world at the moment. I hope the upcoming talent can show some matches as exciting as them!

I speculate because Boe's 32 years old already

agreed ;), I saw the Thai pair's (Issars/Jongjit) flair and thought maybe they could be the next big thing. A lot of the new guys blow hot and cold and I hope this pair is consistent, they are exciting to watch thats for sure..

After OG2012, hopefully Hendra S/New Partner ( Possibly M.Ahsan ), BoMo should continue for 1 or 2 year, LYD/New Partner, Fu although he said that he also want to retire when CY retires, I hope CBA could persuade him to continue, and i hope he will partner with Hong Wei.

Enough with the veteran, now let's talk about promising youngster.
Thai : Issara/Jongjit, high expectation & possibility that these two will climb to the Top 5
INA: Ryan/Angga, they have to learn from Thai pair speed at the front & power at the back.
MAS: GVS/LKW, promising talent from MAS MD.
    KOR: KSY/YYS, LYD/New partner
CHN: Still questionable, with the retirement of CY, CB/GZD do not have what it takes to be world no. 1 in MD, possibly FHF/HW could give some surprise.

You forget Kim Ki-jung/Kim Sa-rang for KOR. They are still 21/22 but already Asian Champion.

For CHN, if they pair Chai Biao back with Zhang Nan, maybe... ;)
But worry not, we have Li Gen the wonder boy. He's CHN best prospect for medal in Rio 2016.

For INA, hoping Rendy will be paired with a DECENT partner. Poor him. :(

err... this pair is not consistent if you ask me. Took them many tournaments to produce this kind of form. The best they can become in the near future is probably emulate Kido/Setiawan who just peaked during Olympic'08 and pretty much a quarter-final/semi-final kind of pair. I think the next generation of MD badminton will be a contest between 6-8 pairs who can all play at the same level. Unlike Cai/Fu who probably wins consistently week-in week-out.

I can't see the synergy..both players are also exceptional back court players and I think they suit Lee YD more then Fu :p

    you're joking?

Anyway, My hopefuls are kim/kim, ryan/angga, especially issara/jongjit imo but these are early days. Pease..please..I really would like to see them meet fu/cai,Lee/Jung in a tournament before they disband. issara/jongjit has already met and lost to fu/cai but only narrowly, anybody knows where can watch the match online??

Ko/Yoo could be great but they've shown to be inconsistent and I fear them going the way of KooKK/TanBH

If it's consistency you're asking, then I'm afraid there is barely any 'real d*mn good' young pair I can think of ATM. Their best shots are ranging from creating notable upsets against seeded opponents to winning lower-tier tournaments... and that's it. They often go as far as Super Series QF or SF, before getting whacked by more senior pairs.

Nope. Perhaps he's late bloomer, who knows?
