I have tried many Victor rackets recently. And except for one, I couldnt find their advertised specs matching the actuals. I have specifically asked this to Eric, and he too admits he is baffled. Some of my recent buys : BS LYD : 86 gm : But 4u BS 12 ( 2 nos) : 86 gm : Both 4u BS 12 : 88 gm : Still 4u. Now, I have stopped taking Victor samples based on specs. If buying from store, I keep my small weighing machine handy. Online, I buy only from reputed dealers who can provide accurate weights irrespective of specs.
also, did you weigh it with or without the handle heat shrink wrap? Victor for some reason decides to have double handle wraps. if you take off those transparent wraps, it is 2grams difference. i have bought a 3U MX70 and it weighed ~91g with the wrap, but when i take that out, it is ~89g which is within spec. i have seen another MX80 that way as well.
Yup ~ my MX60 has the double shrink wrapped too Hence contributing to heavier weight than stated in specs After removing both, it is okay.
Well.. when I do it myself from store, it will be without string, but I had considered 1.5 gms for the heat shrink wrap. So when I say my sample was 86 gms, it was essentially 87.5 gms total. Online, Eric does it for me, but he considers both these aspects. It seems, he asked this question to Victor reps, but they dont have a solid answer. Apart from this, I have to say I am perfectly happy with Victor though Keeping just one from evil empire. Rest all are victors.
