Good thing I travel to H.K. and China every year during Summer to visit some relatives...

    I live in HK....Island side

Just got back from Mongkok today. Wow...quite a few Amortec 700 SP being strung at Emmy.....
Promised my son few months back to get him a racket of his choice since he has worked hard during school so got one for him for HKD1278 with Cybernatural 100 strings (his choice...expensive strings...just trying out...probably will never go back to it) strung at 23lbs. Tempted to buy another one but told myself to test it out first. Bought other things as well so Ah Fai gave some discounts. Rose Sports listed the racket for HKD 1098 and willing to go down to 1070 without strings....but somehow I just got pulled to Emmy?? Don't know why though!

Maybe the service put you off in Rose! I was put off initially, but the old man can usually give you a discount, if you are buying more than one thing.

I eventually went back to buy some more stuff, and the stringing is quite good too.

Emmy's looks more specialised, but the guys in there are too cheeky and seldom give discount.

    Oh hang on there....

I do not want to start a "war" about which shop to trust. Ultimately, I feel that it is a customer-shop relationship. I'm not saying that Rose is not good at all. Some of us have bought things there and are happy customers. I may buy some things from Rose in future.....the more shops around the higher the competition and the better the prices for us players. Any shops can lie or cheat us but they will lose us customers to other stores. I'm sure some of the shopowners are snooping into our forums to pick up hints and that's fine!

In our forum, we can report bad practices but we need to be specific and not simply bad mouth the shops......so what exactly made you say of Rose?

FY, be careful. The legal term for what you have done is 'libel'. Nice comments by Jeffrey.

    Thank you for all comments.

In fact that, I have at least two unhappy experiences in Rose and some happened with my friends. I would never buy racket from Rose again.

When your racket break at the first hit and somebody refused to return, comment that the racket must hit on other hard surface (in fact no scratch on racket at all), the owner told you that he did not have the wholeseller's contacts, tell you just call the telephone company to find the telephone number..........

When a body tell you that an old dead stock is used to sponsor the Hong Kong Team.........

When you are choosing a racket more than 5 minutes and then tell you buy or leave..........., what would you think!!

Anyway, I would not comment Rose at here anymore.

Thanks again for the comment. And I would stop here.

Oh..so sorry to hear about your bad experience. Basically you were not happy with their service. That's life though. I can understand how you feel. My wife refuse to fly Qantas cos' of a bad experience with the flight attendants. So we fly with other airlines even though it may be more expensive and that's fine cos' everyone is happy.

ouch. HK$1100 / 880. i still remember a couple of years ago, i was browsing a store in HK. saw some tennis rackets going for more than HK$1000 dollar, i said to myself, "how lucky badminton rackets are much cheaper." now we are seeing prices of every new release of badminton racket going higher and higher. MP100 was in the $900, MP99 was $1000, now AT700 $1100. what happened to deflation?

Hi Jeffrey! I'm from Manila but my kids study in HK. I'm planning to ask them to buy Armortec 700 for me. Any feedbacks on how the racket is performing? Did your son get the 4U weight? How's the Cybernatural 100 string? Maybe you can give us your contact person at Emmy's so I can just look for him and get further discount.

    ;)
