Isn't it logical that he can smash faster due the less stiffness in his new racket (4/5 instead of 5/5)?
I mean FHF's Kason F9 is slightly stiff only - according the reviews here around.
Less stiffness -> less direct, but more catapult?

no, more flex does not logically imply more speed - if these guys swing so fast that the flex is too weak to be 'catapulting forward' when impacting the shuttle, then they will get more speed with a stiffer racket.
I'm surprised we have not seen some faster smashes actually. I recall seeing a youtube clip where hidayat is clocked at >300kph. I would expect fhf/jjs to be able to smash faster. Was that hidayat smash just a 'glitch' reading?

That was in the 2006 WC in Spain, where a lot of the players were hitting over 290km/h. Lin Dan and Chen Hong hit just over 300km/h too, so maybe they were using faster shuttles or the speed camera was configured differently?I'm surprised we have not seen some faster smashes actually. FHF played in that tourney too, so I'll watch some matches when I get home later to see if he got over 305hm/h in that same tourney

Jung was clocking 280 a lot more regularly than usual during the IO... seems he and his new racket pretty much see eye to eye.
Wrt Fu's record-breaker... I would lean more toward glitches. There's a way to work out what the highest expected value would be from known values - it'd need the speed of EVERY smash they'd done - but given that Fu might reach 300 once per tournament, I wouldn't expect 332 to be within statistical expectation. It's also possible that the shuttle had been blasted to within an inch of its life - I wonder if there's a correlation between rally length and smash speeds...
If some saddo fancies plugging a thousand smash speeds in Excel, feel free to prove me wrong

Doesn't it also depend on how the speed is measured? If you measure a very short distance from impact, the value will be much higher than if you measure from impact until it hits the floor. Somebody told me smash speeds are recorded as impact to net, so a front court smash would record much faster if that were true.

It seems like it will be released in July and will be selling around the same price as MX 80.

Argh... just after I bought a backup MX70 too!

But I have a feeling that anything designed specifically for JJS, I won't be able to handle.

I guess this will be similar to MX 70 except that it will be graphene reinforced to provide better stability.

"As used by Indonesia Open Champion Jung Jae-Sung". Ye gods, if he wins the Olympics with this thing... Victor could finally crack UK properly.
I may have to try it myself - I found the M70 too soft, but it'd be worth seeing what effect the graphene has (if any). As always, the photographer makes all the difference
