    Anyone tired this?

30lb tension fishing line diameter is around 0.48mm

Plus some fishing lines are woven and braided so there will be the grip there.

I heard thin strings are better then thick for repulsion, anyone think this would work.

    Just a thought thats all

there's a reason all these fishing line companies don't sell badminton string right?
if this works really well you can run yonex out of business!

    try it.

it also depends on how they make the rating of the fishing line. badminton string, even strings as thin as bg66 can take 40lbs tension, but once it goes over that, it will snap. imagine if you string a racket at 30lbs tension, when you smash, the actual tension on the string is way more than 30lbs because you are adding extra force on the string with that smash.

so a 30lbs fishing line if it snaps at 30lbs, it means that it will hardly be able to bear a 20lbs string job as it will probably snap on the first big smash.

Strange Yonex also started out in the fishing business.- The company was founded in 1946 by Minoru Yoneyama as a producer of wooden floats for fishing nets

A mod puts his foot down while playing the game? DOES NOT COMPUTE!

I might chuck a few quid out of my Paypal to get some 0.50 Spectra... my poor grommets. If I do, be assured of a review - just need to decide on a suitably bizarre colour.

The more I look at the multifilament lines, the less inclined I am to go for them - they don't seem to have a discrete coating the way racket string does; it's as though they're "all core". Sadly, the monofil lines are significantly weaker for a given gauge (as in 0.70 is rated to less than 50 lb).

Still, it's only three quid from HK, and I can get some truly mental colours - might be worth a giggle for the last session of my season. Does anybody fancy doing a breaking pull on some BG80 to let me know which rated line to get?:)
