BWF World Rankings of Juniors (1993 or younger)

i was bored a bit and did some research on upcoming juniors (only males as of now). so, i looked up the world rankings of each junior (1993 or younger) and therefore present you all top 300 juniors (i have a bigger list, but it would have been too long fore here, i guess). i think it's a nice list to see how juniors are starting to evolve in the adult's world.

of course i know that this list does not objectively reflect the player's performance (e.g. nearly no koreans at all, even though i am sure that they have some aces up their sleeves which are just not yet competing on this level), but i think its nice to look at the young players and the rankings they already achieved.

if there are player missing, or if you can help me out with the "dates of birth" of the two young MAS players, feel free to reply here. feedback is also welcome. i will try to keep this update to date once a month or so...

You might want to check the BWF world junior rankings, these are just points of juniors when playing in senior events. A junior could play in 10 senior events and without winning a match be very highly ranked on this list.

thx. i dont know where this mistake comes from. i basically got the birthdates of each accompanying tournamentsoftware.com-profile page... hm.. i hope there are not more mistakes.. i delete ADI PRATAMA from the list of course. thank you!

You might want to check the BWF world junior rankings, these are just points of juniors when playing in senior events. A junior could play in 10 senior events and without winning a match be very highly ranked on this list.

as mentioned in the OP this is the intention of the list. i WANT to keep track of how juniors compete in the adult's ranking, which also means how they compete in adult's tournaments, which would NOT be regarded in the BWF World Junior Rankings.

You are probably also aware that your definition of 'junior' is different from the BWF's. In 2012, only kids born in 1994 or later can compete in junior events.

The exception was the junior Badminton Europe events, which allowed kids born in '93 or later for the entire 2011-2012 BE season, which ended in the winter, I believe.

i am a bit confused, because i read the following two lines on the bwf page (http://www.bwfbadminton.org/page.aspx?id=16443):
1) Players must be under 19 years of age to be eligible in the World Junior Ranking.
2) Players will be removed from the World Junior Ranking once they have reached 19 years of age on 1^st January.

this means that the 1993's are still legit to be in the junior ranking

Mind you, the BWF has this Heri Setiawan of Bahrain (dob 1995-01-01) cross-listed with a Bahrain player named Heri Satiawan [sic] who played in the Bahrain Int'l in 2009, with an Indonesian Heri Setiawan who played in the Indonesia IC in 2007-2008 and with an Indonesian named Klt Heri Setiawan, who played in the Surabaya Satellite in 2006.

Meanwhile, PBSI has in their database a Heri Setiawan Dwi Cahyono born in 1987, a Heri Setiawan born in 1980, a Hery Setiawan born in 1989, a hery Setiawan.[sic] born on 1995-01-01, a Heri Setyawan.[sic] born in 1998, and a Heri Setiawan born in 1987. AFAIK, Heri Setiawan moved and now coaches Bahrain team. He also plays now for Bahrain as opposed to Indonesia.
