BG65 tension loss?
Hi guys
I have had several racquets that were professionally strung at different tensions (same racquets, same strings). After about 6-8 hours of play they all come down to around 8.2 - 8.4kg's, regardless whether they have been strung at 8.7, 9.0 or 9.4.
I have no idea what I am doing wrong. One of the things that I could think off, is that the stringing machine doesn't pre-stretch correctly?
advice would very welcome
kind regards
P

BG65 will lose tension regardless of how you string them.
the only possible remedy is to extensively pre-stretch them (not on the machine), but that takes many hours.
and i believe the tension loss is much more than the 0.5kg to 1.2kg range that you specified. even regular string will lose 1lb (~0.5kg) unplayed and then another pound after first time playing. BG65 will easily lose another 2lbs.

Thank you so much for your fast reply Kwun.
I am glad that I'm not the only one who has come to these conclusions
.
And yes I also agree that they loose even more of the tension.
So, the next logical question for me would be:... what string should I switch to?
kind regards

Usually adding two to three extra pounds to your reference tension for BG 65 will make up for the eventual tension loss. I would recommend BG 65 32 lbs or over.

What the hell are you thinking recommending something so ridiculous to a person who usually strings at 9kg (20lb)? If that guy has an older or cheaper racquet, 32lb will cause the racquet to cave in on itself. Even if the racquet didn't break, recommending someone to increase their tension by 12+lb is just a terrible, terrible, TERRIBLE prank.
Worst post of the year!

Polder,
I prefer playing @10kg. The only way to have this tension after 10h of play (with BG-65) is to string at around 11kg.
BG-65ti will keep the tension better, but the break easily.
I'm not that experienced, but this works best for me.
Who strung your rackets? Speedy?Ron?

Can't tell is serious or sarcastic.
From my reading of BC, Mr. Pete LSD always strings and talks about using these tensions. Its nothing new from him. He does it with everyone. There is no need to become overly enraged over it.
As for Polder, I would recommend Bg80 if you dont mind switching strings. It seems to hold tension pretty well. Loses only 2 pounds or so based on my experience. However, it has lower durability.

dude. if you make comments like that, some people reading it will think you are serious and follow it.
best case is they might have a broken racket, worse case is they will get injured and never be able to play badminton again.
be responsible on what type of joke and how you make it.

A couple of things things to try:
hand-prestretch before stringing (around a doorknob, I mean - pull until all the slack is gone from the string),
a new knot and/or tightening technique (look at YULitle's Youtube videos).
If neither of these works, it might be worth stringing to, say, 10kg, then leaving the racket for 24 hrs before use. (If you can pick the racket up and pat the strings during the day, even better.) IME string jobs usually stabilize most of the way down in the first 24 hrs whether played with or not.
